!!-Help With New BenQ iXtreme 1.1 Firmware Install-!!

Alright heres the problem I had I didn't have a flash drive available to delete everything off of and the tutorial said you could just make a 3.5 bootable diskette instead so i did that i had no problem getting my sata card to recognize my xbox or getting the orig.bin file however when i got back into windows to build the new firmware file my computer wouldnt let me copy and paste orig.bin to my ixtreme folders (said cyclic redundancy check). What I did was copied the 8x folder into the diskette and created the new bin file which worked fine too. the main problem came when i followed the tutorial and did the erase command which also worked (sadly) and then when i tried to write the new firmware file it gave me a can't read data on A drive error after retrying a bunch of times I am stuck i also cant just reflash the orig.bin file or copy the orig.bin file or the benq-ix.bin file to any other mediums any ideas would be very appreciated as my xbox is useless as of now

So you copied the 8x folder to your floppy, and then pasted your orig into that folder and made the benq-ix... did you take the benq-ix out of the folder? Because DosFlash won't read inside that folder.

ya, did you remove the beng-ix file and place it on your floppy?? Thats were you get it from when flashing new firmware in dos (if using dosflash 16)..

When i made the new firmware (benq-ix) it was already on the floppy disk also I deleted all off the ixtreme stuff off of the disk after i cut and pasted the benq-ix file outside the folder. Both the orig.bin and the benq-ix.bin are on the 3.5 diskette in the root. There was not enough room on the diskette for all of the boot files and ixtreme so i cut/pasted everything to my computer exept the orig.bin to fit the ixtreme files then after the new firmware was created i replaced all of those files onto the diskette. I am more trying to find a recovery tool for getting the data off of the diskette so I can put it onto a bootable flash drive, or another diskette.

Fixed it! Used a program called BadCopy to recover firmware from bad disk!

Hi everyone,
kind of a stupid question i know, but i have always know chipsets to be part of the motherboard and not a pci card like the recommended VIA cards... what kind of function do these chipsets normally provide for a computer?
Also, my desktop is about 4 years old (dell pentium 4, xp - sp2), is there anything that I need to be aware of when buying a VIA pci chipset that will be make it not compatible with my system?

Can anyone tell me what I might be doing wrong? I have a old samsung TS-H943 dvd drive. that xbox died. I bought a new Benq holiday bundle with the 60nm falcon board. I flashed the firmware to newest Benq Ixtreme v1.4 (5x) firmware. I took the key from benq drive and replaced it in the Samsung TS-H943 drive. checked it and it befor I flashed it when I hook it up in the Falcon system I get a red light in the right bottom corner. is this a bad flash or do I need to do something different to make this drive work in this newer system. I'm not sure if I should upgrade or downgrade the samsung firmware so I can use this drive for backups! if any one can help please give some detail please...

You can't just swap keys, you have to use spoofed firmware. But if I were you I'd leave the Benq in the 360 and use the Samsung for making backups.
You don't need the samsung working in the Benq 360 to make backups. For the samsung, use the samsung key with an older Xtreme firmware. I'd suggest Xtreme 5.3. The Xtreme 5.3 firmware will let you set the drive to 0800 mode from a cd-r... instead of having to burn it to a dvd+r dl.
For making backups, set the drive in 0800 mode. Then boot to windows and use either Schtrom or Xbox Backup Creator.
