Wiikey stopped working after update

I have some problem after I updated it to v.1.9g. I tried the recovery disk. It doesn't work for me. Hope somebody find the way to repair it instead of buying new wiikey.

Hey all,

Not sure if this will help - or if it was the problem you are experiencing. I updated to 1.9b and all was well. I popped in the update disc to make a change, and when it applied, there was an error of some sort. (Can't remember what it was)

At this point, the Wii would not load anything. Some discs would load in the channel view -but if you select them - disc errror. The config discs could not be read either.

I was going to burn and run the recovery program - but instead loaded the 1.9b disc again. I loaded up no problem, and I ran the flash again. Now the Wii is working perfectly again.

I'm having the same problem, all backups (gc/wii, even config & flash discs that worked fine before) stopped loading, originals work fine. I wonder if someone can answer these questions:

- Does the firmware recovery disc _have_ to be burnt on -R media ?
- How exactly do you use this disc? Just put it in and wait 3 mins? Or go to Disc Channel and wait 3 mins?
- In what way will removing the cmos battery help?

I'm starting to see a lot of people with 1.9g and this problem...

I found this on a differant fourm I don't know if it works because I don't know what are where is the wiikey header.

the header on the wii key had come loose, the 6x dvd must have vibrated it free.
