anyways, it worked and i was able to load v1.3 off it, run the update etc and all seems to work fine. to add to that i can confirm that tesco -R discs work even at 8 speed and they aint the most expensive on the market either.

even metroid seems to work a treat

tried a gcos from a site and another thread on here but it still does not work, i may try and get some tesco dvd-r tommorow and see if my disks are playing up.

I am in the process of trying another dvd writer... as well.

ok, im no expert itolson, but i've gathered a few bits of info-

when you try any of the disc's you burnt so far, do ANY of them load up the Gamecube logo then result in an error message?

if so, your chip should have been installed ok AND the media etc you are using are fine, its the wii firmware causing you grief.

try extracting those files and burning to disc, it should load GCOS. when GCOS loads, select boot dvd and try running wiikey update 1.9b

Problem Solved! I used another config version, not the one from the wiikey website and burned in a DVD -, and worked smoothly. I did not used a DVD + since there were some threats about it.

case dismissed!

Thanks everybody

Hi, which config version did you use? I can't get a PAL Wii with Ver. 3.1E setup. Thanks

Ok, heres my story:

Ordered my WiiKey online, then droped the machine off at someones house for it to be installed. Days later we get the machine back, Something about firmware updating? needing a disc? so, STUPIDLY! we somehow make a 1.9G HotFix DVD and ran it on the Wii. After the test, we did the flash then w heard the homer sound.

Installing the 1.9G on an unflashed WiiKey isn't good right? Well, for all we know it didn't work.

Then we tried other discs to only get a message 'Error, reset your Wii...'

Ok, right about now we were all pretty much bleep our pants thinking the 1.9G firmware screwed up our machine.

But then my brother finds this disc image which is in the gamecube format, even tho we thought we had fudged out WiiKey with the 1.9G HotFix this disc DIDN'T ask us to eject our disc and reset the Wii.

This disc actually loaded, from reading the disc says install 1.2 but really it installs 1.3

Problem now, using the reset button only resets the machine! Maybe it really is 1.2? i dunno. but we are gonna get a GameCube controller and try it.

Or the installer said he would send us a disc with 'something' on it to install.
