Many have been sent back unrepaired due to the warranty being voided (sticker removed).

Back about a year ago they were repairing them regardless, now it seems it just depends on the person that checks the system at the repair center.

It's a 50/50 chance if the console has be tampered with.

Newbart...you need to slow down a bit and tell people facts. Not just what you feel. You seem a bit excited and that's great.

But the reality of it all is:

Warranty sticker intact = no problem.

Warranty sticker missing = Good luck. (Why would you even try anyway? The warranty is obviously void.)

Previously registered = no problem. Warranty can be transfered to your name.

CL, you are wrong. "Tell people facts"....wtf, I could care less what you think dude, so quit talking about me here, people who hate on people here are annoying. I have seen a lot of your posts CL and the "reality" as you say is that you are new and don't really know what you are talking about (sure everyone here knows that also). The perfect example is you are TOTALLY wrong about transferring a previously registered 360 to a new person, as Wabashman said and I found out before, you need the PREVIOUS REGISTERED PERSON'S INFORMATION TO TRANSFER IT OR THE ORIGINAL RECEIPT. Call Microsoft genius and ask them, Einstein. You may have gotten someone who didn't require that, but they didn't follow procedure. I know a bunch of people in the real world over the last few weeks who have sent theirs back without the sticker and they get it replaced so I know I'm right and could care less what you say. I'm not gonna respond to you here anymore, that was my problem before, I'd get baited by the ignorant forum trolls and respond to people like you and get banned, no more, think whatever you want. Word of advice-just try to comment on stuff you ACTUALLY know about next time, which I'm sure isn't very much.

The MS warranty clearly states it only extends to the original owner.

Quote:
One Year Express Warranty on Console (Three Years for Three Lights Flashing Red). Subject to the terms and conditions of this Limited Warranty, Microsoft warrants to you only (the original retail purchaser) that, during the Warranty Period and under normal use and service, the Xbox® Console will substantially conform with the printed user instruction materials packaged with the Console.
http://www.xbox.com/en-US/support/system...es/warranty.htm

So the safest way to pick up a used 360 would be to first verify that it hasn't been registered. Yes, there are a few MS reps who've reregistered 360s and extended the warranty to the new owner. But don't expect that to be standard procedure. Because it's not. It's two separate cases between them registering it to you AND including the warranty. It's not a problem for them to change the registration. But... they don't have to cover the warranty once it leaves the original owner. And alot of reps don't.

Especially if a person keeps doing it with multiple consoles. They may let you slide with one 360, but if someone keeps contacting them with console after console trying to get it reregistered and covered under warranty, they're going to deny it.

As for not having the warranty sticker and trying to send it back, I'm with CL... it's REALLY bad advice to tell someone MS will fix it regardless. Some people have gotten away with it, but most haven't. Not only does MS return the 360 untouched, but the owner then becomes responsible for the shipping costs.

Respect your opinion bhetrick, unlike CL, you actually know what you are talking about. Right, I just found MS will fix without a sticker, but maybe they are cracking down on it. Just the people I know recently who had RROD on 360s without a sticker have all gotten theirs replaced. Also too, other message boards have a ton of these replaced too. People can do what they want with it; I would send mine in if missing sticker.

That says alot about you. As does the PM you sent me.

Doesn't matter. Don't even care to defend myself here. I wasn't "hating" on you. You took it the wrong way and got defensive.

A majority of the users on this site have issues. It makes it hard to even want to come back.

As for the PM:

Quote:
You don't know what the fuck you are talking about faggot, so I suggest you shut the fuck up and get the fuck off this board.
Very mature of you dude.

Final response for the smartest man on the board who seems to hate on everyone here, CL, ok sure, you hint I'm doing something wrong by saying friends have sent theirs in without the sticker (my RROD was intact) and here you are the one who admittedly tricked Microsoft into sending a replacement 360, even though yours was registered before (and you didn't know the registered person's info)?? Aren't you the hypocrite....you probably kept calling the reps until you found one who was new that you could trick into sending you a replacement. That's really honest, I hope you can look at yourself in the mirror each day. As far as the PM, don't set me up with that fake PM. Hope you get help sir, you sure need it.

Your assumptions are your downfall.

Anyway, if you must know....I called M$ and told them that I bought it used and it doesn't work and that it was not registered to me if it was registered at all. He of course ran the serial and then read off the name of the person that it was registered to. I told him that wasn't me. He then said "ok, i'll transfer it over to you".

So, how did I trick them? I wasn't dishonest in any way.

I probably got lucky with that, but the people that knowingly send in a console with the sticker removed are just dishonest. There's no other way to look at it.

I fix 360's, but I figured I'd let M$ fix this latest one I bought.

Look, I don't care. I didn't mean for this to go this way at all. You obviously took my post to heart and went wacko. I really don't care.

By the way, come on dude. Fake PM? Are you serious?

Screenshot? Forward it? I'll do neither at this point.

My skin is pretty thick.

Oh sure, you just "happened" to find a MS rep who allowed you to trick them into sending in a registered 360?? Who are you kidding, you knew it was wrong and totally dishonest to do that. And you now encourage people to send in second hand 360s that have been registered (without knowing the registered info or the original receipt)?? You are trying to scam Microsoft, stalker, all there is to it. Didn't you READ what Wabashman said? You MUST know the previous person's info. I think if you could read, that would help matters GREATLY. I tell you, ignorant people like you ruin this board-people who try to act like they know everything, and in actuality, know nothing. I never have sent one in without an intact MS sticker, my point, weirdo, is that I know many people who have. By the way, does your mom know you get on her computer and say such ignorant postings and attack people?

WOW! What can I say to this?

Nothing that hasn't already been said I guess.

My mom needs me to help her out of bed, so I must get off the computer.

Another great PM from you NewBart.

At this point, I don't care if I get banned. Although I fail to see where I attacked or "hated" on you originally, this is just getting stupid with you.

Getting all psycho about my original response was just nuts.

Anyway, mods, remove me if you feel you need to, but this SOB needs to go to.

I'll go back to knowing nothing and keeping it to myself.

CL, what's with all the fake PMs lol, that was funny though!!! Boy, you just don't go attacking people here like you did, your little "tell people facts" line was so uncalled for, especially when you were WRONG and you are encouraging cheating Microsoft. Maybe other people wouldn't have said anything, but I wasn't going to take your ignorant crap, so I think you learned you don't mess with me or anyone here, freak. I've had a ton of members PM me and say thanks for putting you in your place as I'm not the only one who can't stand you-negativity like you show people ruin the board. I am just negative when I am attacked. Mods, please close this thread as I am tired of dealing with this psycho who starts crap with people and then cries when someone says something back.
