Hi m8 if you look on fleabay for D2B there are a few hits for replacement drives that will work in your wii, the downside is the cost its around 80GBP delivered the upside is the soldering would be much easier as you can use the 6 wire install Wiikey chip or one of its clones, good luck TD1048 you will be able to do any of the installs D2C or D2A/B just take your time do 1 single wire and check with a multimeter then do the next wire , its time consuming but you can do it. ( i was a newbie to soldering contacts this small when i got my wii, since then ive done around 30 Wiikey installs and 6 D2C installs with no problems trust me m8 time and patience makes it worthwhile )

@ 5couse

I have a many stupid questions. What is fleabay and m8? I was wondering what kind of of solder and sobering iron you used? I dont have a multimeter but is it really necessary and if i do get a hold of one how does it work?

Thanks TD1048

Hi TD1048 Fleabay = ebay sorry just a play on words. I use a 15 watt soldering iron with a 0.5mm tip to solder small points. I would recommend the multimeter it will help tell you if the contact you have just soldered is good it will also tell you if you have "bridged" a contact, a bridged contact is basically were you use too much solder or the position of the wire you soldered has caused 2 of the metal pins to touch together, if so you can solve that problem by removing the solder with solder braid or a solder pump or repositioning the wire. You will find soldering kits ( eg a soldering iron, braid, solder ) quite cheaply if you look around.

Ther are no stupid questions m8 only stupid answers :)

Having a hard time finding a 0.5mm tip for a 15 watt soldering iron. My soldering iron is form Radio Shack it's one of thows 15w or 30w screw on tip. Its old but it works great. I still have a couple more places to check but if you have any ides I'm all ears.

Thanks TD1048

So I got my chip today. I think I have every thing to do this. I do have a question about the multimeter what setting should it be on and what number should come up if its a good connection.

Just make sure its as small as possible. And make sure it doesn't get too hot, because you don't want to melt/burn anything that shouldn't be burnt.

And make sure you know that its really good quality. (I bought a "quality" soldering iron, in which it soldered to itself, as opposed to the drive.)

Update

I started taking my Wii apart but I found a little surprise waiting for me. Triwing screws, but I order a set online and it should be here in a week I hope. But other then that, I am trying to figure out how to use this 500V Radio Shack voltmeter. I don?t wont to burn any thing out so any one know what I should turn the setting on. I am thinking 2V but I do not know.

Thanks TD1048

You should have got a multimeter instead of a voltimeter. The thing is your dealing with low voltage anyways so your best bet is to use a multimeter. The jumpers are used for different regions, which is what the diagram explain.Look get the diagram and that will tell you everything you need to know. Why do you have to question people on here multiple times when the answer is in front of your face. You should be able to figure that out yourself by now.The first thing a person does when they get a modchip is get the diagram for it.Send the console off to someone that knows what they are doing, because your going to end up messing up your console. Here are the jumper settings
.I would advise you send it off to a professional though since you are completely lost.
