How do you know what devices are preventing SP1 from showing up in WU?

I'm running Vista Ultimate. Unlike others, I've had no problems at all. In fact, it has blown XP away in performance and stability.

So I figured I'd install SP1 yesterday to make it even better. WRONG. After some initial install issues, two of my apps crashed upon startup.

I uninstalled SP1 and everything is working fine again.

SP1 has SO MANY PROBLEMS that Microsoft created a toll free line with free support just for SP1.

I had two other Windows updates waiting to be installed. SP1 did not show up untill I installed the two Windows updates. Just hit the ALT key to get Tools to show up. Go to tools > Windows Updates and manualy run them.

Did the alt tools WU, but no new updates.

Went thru the device manager checking for updates for each device, tells me all the devices are up-to-date but still no SP1. This is bizarre.

That is odd. Sorry that I could not help. I feel for you as I am having a steep learning curve with Vista.

I heard M$ is offering free support for installing this update - LMAO!

Is it really that bad?

Hmm, I think I will just stick with XP. It gets the job done. I wouldn't be surprised if this service pack causes more problems for people.
