OK folks. I finally went and purchased a soldering gun on my lunch. I will start my project later in the evening but I will make sure to post a guide and have pics of the disected ps3 controller. Doesnt seem that hard. Its just about 7-8 soldering points and the analog portion of the controller can be removed from the motherboard.....

most n00bs mess up here.....make sure to take the battery out of your controller and let it sit for at least 15mins...this allow for all power to discharge from the MB......HE HE good luck with the iron:)

Looking forward to the guide, just picked up my DS3 from eb games with the warranty (with the sixaxis track record I figured it was more than worth it), long story short I got a half dead sixaxis that I can try stuff with.

Pretty good... I had some probles at first with the let analog stick sticking "up", but it seems it must have been fixed. I havent had trouble since the last several updates.

Hm, one thing I noticed is the L3 and R3 feel alot different, they don't have to be pressed in near as far as on the sixaxis's.
