On my side, all games have been backed up 6+ months ago... but then they are not on Verbatim, so I'll check it out when I can... if this works, I'll keep you posted.

just a quick note... all of our burned disk so far work the only ones that dont are the guitar hero customs sets... so far. We didnt mean to update to 3.3e but accidents happen. I miss my guitar hero encore rock the 80s... boohoo. GH3:LOR and GH3:Aerosmith work fine only the customs dont work on our system wish I could roll back. I am peeved at Nintendo right now. If they had made the Wii's REgion free as they had spoke about in 2006 most of us wouldn't care about the upgrade.

i'm getting pretty sick and tired of my Wii.... it's modded with a Wii Top chip (as far as i know) and it's a PAL Wii... i can't run the LEGAL NTSC Version of Brawl cuz my wii doesnt SEE the DAMN disk...
the DVD9 Version comes as far as the Intro then it says the disc couldnt be read... and the DVD5 Version i can only get to work using HBC and Region Free :S

stupid 3.3 update is prolly the cause for all of this!

WTF? :p

Ok now,

I just bought VERBATIM DVD-RW and DVD+RW. Which one should I use? Any difference? The + one can go 4x (which I wont use of course) and the - one can burn at 2x only (so using lowest speed on a 4x is better?).

Thanks for enlightening me,

You don't know your modchip and you blame the Wii firmware update? I'd suspect the firmware on the chip not being new enough to stealth itself for the 3.3 firmware first off...

I'm a UK Wii owner with a D2C edition Wii and a D2Ckey, currently on firmware 3.3e. The online firmware update did not affect any of my installed VC games, homebrew channel, WAD installer channel or Wiiare games.

I've just downloaded and burnt a SSBM DVD5 PAL version (so all should work sweet with the invincible D2Ckey), but it doesn't work, giving the new error message given elsewhere on these forums if you boot the Wii with the game in, telling you to remove the disc and restart the console, or if you try and launch it from the disc channel you get a similar message.

I've never run NTSC-PAL patched games so I know thee's no bricking, and other scrubbed+Trucha signed games still work fine so I'm not sure what the hell it is exactly causing the error, but I can be sure it's the 3.3e update causing the problems.

So I hope that clears that up for other PAL users.

If you have updated to 3.3 then I don't see how any trucha signed games are working because the update disables them.

I would guess the burn of SSBB you have done is at fault, i have the 3.3 update on my PAL console (and a few friends do) and the DVD9 SSBB i have done works perfectly on all our consoles.

Well yes, the DVD5 is scrubbed and then re-signed by Trucha rather than with original code. The DVD9 version is complete and does not use any code trickery. I'm just trying to highlight the problem with Trucha signed discs. (Contrary to my last post, I can confirm other Trucha-signed discs I have no longer work).

I can't be bothered to buy a pack of dual-layers just for this game, so I'm happy to wait for a fix for the Trucha method or roll back to 3.2E.

I know that a 3.3 wii can't play Trucha-signed backup. My question is: can it play a wiifrii-patched backup? What about a WBBed one? Thank you in advance.

If wiifriid games can be played all we have to do is apply wiifrii instead of trucha-signing.

I have not updated to find out but I suspect that sooner or later Nintendo will come up with a firmware update that is required to play the latest games and contains the malignant fix!

"doesn't wiifrii use the same exploit as trucha ?"

I thought so but I have read somewhere that wiifriid backups are okay on 3.3. Doesn't make sense to me and I'm not motivated to try.

Again, I am sure Nintendo will make this update a mandatory for future games, sooner or later. Hopefully by then we will come up with homebreww firmware.

Hello Everyone I'd like to share my experience with the 3.3U update
I've got the wiikey 1.9s before the update (no internet ch ,no twilight hack & no homebrew ch) here is the things I've done & happened to my wii step by step I hope it'll be helpful
- ssbb ,mario kart & all of my copies were working fine before 3.3U
- I updated to 3.3U then downloaded nintendo channel it downloaded its data & I enabled data sharing
_ watched some videos in nintendo ch went back to the wii menu from the ch. (not from home menu) while a video was streaming and then an error stated that the wii data (not system not save data) is corrupted and you must format your system (format system option in setting went yellow when highlighted after this I think)
- went back to Nintendo ch disabled data sharing watched some more videos then went back to wii menu
- inserted the backup copy of Mario Kart Wii & all kinds of errors popped at my face each time I insert the disc (even before the video appears in the disc ch) tried with different settings from 1.4U config disc but still no help even starting the game (errors like disc can not be read & a ? in the disc ch.)
- inserted GH Aerosmith US starts & after remote use screen & the first legal notice the screen get colored red & a disc can not be read error , tried some changes in 1.4U config then suddenly the game notifies me tha there is an update , I updated (silly me)then it went back to the wii menu and THER IS A SECOND NEWS & WEATHER channels added that doesn't work and Aerosmith does the same as before THEN I Deleted the nintendo ch.
- tried my luck again with MarioKart it does the same as before & then it added another error that almost stopped my heart that stated that the "wii system data corrupted" & evey time after that I just see ? mark in disc ch.
- All the backups I tried so far is working even ssbb is working fine except these two (kart & Aerosmith) IF any other doesn't work I will tell you all as soon as I can
- I am now stick with those two additional & frightening channels (news & weather)
- I am planning To get a 2GB or 1GB SD Card then copying my Save data into it then formatting the wii hope it'll erase those 2 additional channels ,The Question Is : is this the right thing to do & If someone tried it or read or heard about something like this please tell me the right thing to do to erase those two additional channels.

thank you all for this forum & sorry for the long details ,I preferred the detailed story over the short one ,to help you as much as I can.

I have a similar problem on the top.
I updated my wiikey to 1.9s. And then i updated my firmware to 3.3e (yes i know, im very stupid should read before doing stuff). My wii is PAL. And then i put in my Mario Kart game (not origial) to see if it stuffed up my wii. and then messaged popped up saying that disc is corrupted and stuff. Even before pressing the first box in wii menu, it pops up saying that disc is corrupted and stuff. I'm guessing that games that are like before saying #001 error disc can not be or detected or some shit. But theres a way around to playing mario kart. If you have the mario kart channel, all u need is go to it, go to competition, and then when they asked u put in your disc. you put it and then u go out. Then the game will take u the menu of the games which allows u to play mario kart normally. The problem is, the hassle that you have to go through to play mario kart. So what I'm asking is that is there like a way to reverse the firmware back to 3.2e or something. This 3.3e update is total bs. Like if i find a way to reverse this, from now on, im never gonna update ever again. Stupid nintendo, why can't they leave us alone >.>
