article published on 28 June, 2008

An anonymous broadband user forwarded one such email to TheRegister and the letter indeed showed that the woman was being threatened with disconnection for the unauthorized sharing of "Biology" ... [ read the full article ]

Let's try and keep these posts 'short N' sweet'............they're funnier that way.

Anyway.............3 attempts huh?
My thought process leads me to think "what are the chances of getting caught the first time..............EVEN MORE, what are the chances of getting caught the 2nd. As for the third IMPOSSIBLE"

It's laws like these that make me WANT TO STEAL in order to show them a 'what-for' and to teach them a lesson.

I must have missed a good one by going through this one late! Rats!

killalot, that will not help much. You would need to re do all the torrents and for what? You can encrypt your flows which is a setting in most clients. That makes it difficult to police. If you do not encrypt there is software that can log every thing you do. The log will contain the file anme and content, the size the start and stop times. Cox was doing the 3 strikes in the US, now they have joined Comcast in the illegal 'wack-a-doolle' method. I know several users that have seen their report in a cease and desist notice from Cox. I contained everything they did that month. The 'wack-a-doolle'method is both simple and effective as well as illegal in the US. That involves having a robot app that attackes you if you are too greedy. It may not care what you are down loading. It may log what sites you visit and lay off if you are only going to sites that have legal stuff. I suspect the too greedy quanity is a movable mark, maybe it attacks the top 5% or 1%. The app can 'blow you out of the water'. There is really no stopping it because it can disrupt your router as a last resort. You can reset your router but you are dealing with a robot app that can blow your router every minute if it 'wants to'. It can also cripple or crash torrent clients. Most users get worn down and go along with the program. That is what you in the UK need to worry about. The app is called Sandvines. You can google it if you want to read more. It is very impressive.
