I downloaded the latest version of Nero yesterday and tried to smart start Nero and it would not open, just the hourglass for a few seconds then nada. So I rebooted and as soon as I signed on The error reporting box from ms came up and said it had just saved me from some catastrophy. Upon futher investigation though the error service, I found out that I had to update my my Intel chipset. They appear to be playing nice now and I am happy as well.

Askyew,
I had a similar crsh after I had installed Intel's Application Accelerator and tried to open Nero. I had to remove it even though it knocked 5 minutes off my encode times with Shrink 3.1.
