Just got my 2-disk dvd today. No problems with this one. Dvdfab 5.0.9.8 > fixvts > dvd shrink > imgburn. The second disk contains special features and the digital copy. Guess my notion of less encrytion on dvd's with a digital copy so far has came out true.

On a side note, you wouldn't happen to know how to get an 'AUTH Code' for a Digital Copy of Speed Racer would you?

Both dvdfab and ripit4me gave error messages. I dont remember dvdfab's (I am running late for work right now), but Ripit4me defaulted to dvddecrypter 3.5.4.0, ripped the files, and then gave this message "On-the-fly IFO/BUP file patching failed! File name: VTS_01_0.BUP, size 100,352 bytes. Reason: Invalid IFO/BUP file.My original thought was to just delete (and save a copy of) the invalid BUP, and go on to Nero from there. This did not work, so I restored the BUP and now I want to know: should I just ignore this error message, process all the VOBs through FIXvts, then from there to Shrink and IMGburn? Also, can any of these steps be replaced successfully with Nero? (I paid a Lot for that program...)

If you've got Nero Recode you can subtitute that for Dvd Shrink, then burn with Nero. But, you can also still use Dvd Shrink and set it to burn with Nero. Your call.

Some assembly required.

Okay that whole 4-step program of Rip-it-4-me,defaulting to dvd decryptor,to process all the VOBs through FIXvts, then from there to Shrink and IMGburn did not work. Before I burned it to disk and wasted yet another (I have wasted 9 blank discs on this movie already), I had Rip-it-4-me/Decryptor burn it to my hard drive first, and after running all the VOBs thru Fixvts tried to play the movie. It played with a jerky motion, skipping scenes as though it was on scan or preview mode, playing the first 30 seconds of each scene, and all with extreme jerkiness. Then I deleted everything and started over, trying DVDFab HD decryptor, and attempting to convert to HD, as suggested. I got a report that there was an "error". After exercising the given option to "retry" several times, I chose the "ignore" option, and everything seemed fine.
That was yesterday. I left it going all night and went to work this morning. I just came home at 5:30 pm, and the screen says that the analyzing is done and the copy process has started -at a rate of 0.01mb/s! The precent completed is 9.20% and the "task time elapsed" is 16:16:01. Yes thats right, 16 hours! So I stopped the "copy process" and attempted to play the file. same results as with rip-it-4-me (read up above). So what do I try now?
P.S. I have Windows XP64, sevice pack 2, with Intel Core 2 Duo CPU, 3.00 GHZ,w 4GB of Ram, and Nvidia E8400 videocard @ 3.00 GHz.

Okay the mystery has been solved. I took my old 10-cent Memorex external burner out of the closet, and everything worked perfectly. I have an Alienware computer, and the burner that came with it costs five times what this cheap Memorex cost, and yet it gives out after only two years, whereas this five-year old Memorex burner, covered in closet cobwebs yet, is still kicking butt (and it was faster, both in accessing and burning). Also I found out that another onboard drive that I thought all this time was a CDR-W drive was actually a CDR-W/DVDR-W drive, and so along with the Memorex, I was able to have a source and destination drive, and completely ignore the failed drive.
All is well that ends well. At least I learned about a lot of new products, like Rip-it-4-me, FIXvts, and DVDfab. Thanks for the info!
P.S. -That Pirate photo was hilarious...

Good stuff. I'll wager the movie doesn't warrant 1 blank disc, never mind 9, but each to their own :)
I have no idea who put that pirate picture there, honest.

Thank you so much for posting the info about DVDFab. I have used DVD Decrypter for years with never a problem until I tried the Sex and the City movie recently and kept getting errors.

DVDFab did what DVD Decrypter could not. I then used SUPER to encode it to wmv to play on Windows Media Mobile player, worked like a charm. I now have a beautiful copy to watch on my PDA! Never mind whether the movie itself is any good, I haven't watched it yet. :O
