Hi there,
I copied the 2 files off 4shared onto my USBstick. "did you format your USB in a SV4?" ......no should I? how do I?...
I just got back from my mates house who managed to get it to work first time.
Just by installing the "normal" channels...the installation went to 100% no probs....then plug in USB download the 2 files 1570 etc and hey presto.
Now back at my house all the channel lists are on the screen, but no pictures...not even 88C 1,2 etc
I can't even install, my search sticks at now 78% as before we got it to work in a mates house was around 36-37%.
I live on the wirral and me mukka lives in L,pool. Do you wirgin have done anything this side of the water.
I have had a SV pvr twin tuner for over 12 months with no picture issues...so wouldn't say it was the coax. I have no splitter and I do have the broadband, homephone and basic tv package.
As you can guess i'm a little frustrated, and anyhelp would be great or me mukka will have a new SV4 for half the price.
cheers

Are you trying to search and install on Telepest, if so then you will not get anywhere Liverpool is TW, the Wirral is EX CW. try a new installation on CW, even check your existing box if it is still up and running for provider info. also go to this thread and ensure your doing it correctly, I know you said you had it working at a mates house, but it won't hurt to check >>>>>>>>>>

malci, thanks very much. It's working more luck than judgement
Did search with ex C n W...100% second time around. I feel a bit of a numpty not trying all the options.
But still no channels...did factory reset, sly shorts, 1570 etc and magic.
I would have thought that a factory reset would erase the firmware, but anyway it worked.
One final question... what hdd shall i get?? sata, ide or a WD passport type one. I think i will go for a 2.5" smaller the better.
To all involved...thankyou for your help and of course patience.
keep up the good work............nando

Your welcome, just to remind you I should have said this earlier, whenever you do a re=scan, it is a must that you do a Factory Re-set first - and a Factory Re-set does not harm the existing firmware what-so-ever okay, and as regards the HDD it's which ever you prefer, your call. Now you are aware that your provider is ex CW and this is what you must use for any future installations, I know that it is Virg** M***a but Cab*e and Wirel**s was the original provider and your service is still transmitted as such. Good Luck :)

Yeah our problem is a right royal pain in the arse.
I finally downloaded v 1.02 firmware off 4shared on the 25th after half a day of trying, ezop did you do the same?....wonder if this is new (dodgey) firmware ....this is probably a long shot though.
I then tried to put it on the dam box and it stuck at 8% whilst loading. Still no change after half an hour, so turned box off to try again. But when you switch on box says 8888 for a second or two, then sticks at 8882. No start up screens, nothing ....deado.
Any help would be great. Unless a £115 gamble hasn't paid off.
Come on you redmen

gbartling, I have the same toast problem. I received my first Starview 4 Super USB Box on 26/11, but got the black screen and the 8882 error message on the box display after loading the bin file as recommended. I returned the box and received my replacement on 23/12. Despite using a different computer and different USB stick, the same thing happened again. I see that the software was updated on 24/12 - just my luck!
I now await reply from the supplier's customer support email service and will post info to this thread. Have you made any progress?

i got two replacement boxes with v1.05 already loaded, i asked the supplier if he could test them before sending so that we would not have the same problem but could put the fta firmware back on to ship them to me, he obviously could not be bothered putting the fta firmware back on. since then i have updated both to v1.06 and now v1.07 with no problems at all. it would appear some of these boxes die when upgraded but if they work once they will be ok. hope you get a good response from your supplier.

For a start the best you can go go with at this moment in time for a new starter (Personal Opinion - Other's can disagree) is the Eurovox EX 1000, it is a straight forward good sleek slim box, reliable support and the price is right and also get it from here >>>
http://www.skywonder.co.uk/product.php?p...05&cat=1&page=1
Then for a dummies guide (and graphocal) as to what you require and how to do it click on the link marked Eurovox at the bottom of my post courtesy of HiTeck and you will be sorted, provided of course you do have a LIVE cable feed.
