the cost of ours isnt bad, my girlfriends uncle works for the company who ours is through, so we got free installation and a discount on the monthly bills. but i would love to be able to get dsl here, but the phone company said that wont happen for at least another 2 years as thats how far out their system shows for future upgrades. but right now we have a 512kb connection and the dsl at the lake house is 1.5 megs so i think if i get our current connection bumped up to that then it should work fairly well. at least worth a shot i think.

dont feel bad wabashman i have a isp cable company called "pine tree cable" and they are a joke i get 768 here and i pay 60$ a month. my buddys dsl is just as fast. lol bhetrick heard me complaining the other day when we were playing codwaw looks like all the soldiers are in gymnastics on my screen. i thought about satalite, but it is expensive, and there is a contract, and i just havnt heard enough good reviews to make me wanna switch.
Oh yeah, dish is very expensive. Plus, and I'm not positive, but I think you only download via dish. You still upload through landline. So that wouldn't help at all for LIVE.
Have you guys seen any good deals on live in Canada? I need to buy live but I want to save my money so I can get a points card as well. Does anybody have any live codes I have a Gears 2 flashback code I can trade.

i guess im one of the lucky ones. around here the cable providers run at 5 meg, but i was able to go get 10 meg through my dsl provider.

you can upload, like for me is a 7.5 gig download, and 2.3 gig upload limits, but i hate the damn company, I'm almost at the point of finding a way out of it. we got the stuff on Jan 27, i left the next day for WI and didn't come home until Feb 2. and while ABSOLUTELY nothing was connected to it, it managed to download 3030 megs it claims. and then between the 3rd and the 6th, it downloaded another 5 gigs. so I'm already over the limit and everything, which is total BS, because I'm pretty sure that in a 12 hour period it is mathematically impossible to download 3 gigs on a 512 connection that normally runs around 250 or so.
so then you call up the tech support, and they give you the total run around, don't offer you any information than what you already know and can see on your own dang computer screen. luckily i talked to the head manager at the local REMC where we got it through and she actually sounded like she cared and took some initiative to state that she was going to call up the HQ in Texas to find out what in the world is going on.
last thing on my rant today, is that i think i might have figured out why its all screwed up in the first place, because its on a 30 day rolling limit so if it took that one day in Jan that i used it and averaged it out for the month, then i suppose that it 'could' have been 3.03 gigs, but if that's the case then that's pretty damn stupid. and the the 7 gigs after i got back would make sense as i finally got my desktops ethernet ports working so i was able to update it as it hasn't been online for 9 months.
ugh, i hate companies, and damn you Embark for not having DSL at my house.
