It is only the C14 you need to replace, it was only a typo by HiTeck I think :), TBH you should bring it to your local electrical repair shop and let them do it for a few quid.

You desolder and resolder from the back of the board with a decent flux solder. But as said if you dont feel confident get the shop to do it. Yes its a simple fix but burn any tracks and you will have more problems, that will lead to you replacing the PSU.

Thanks for replying Scouser.

I know how to solder but I looked at my C10, one part of that is soldered on the board, the other part of it is hanging off hence why I was asking if I can solder that from the top because the end is short. Is it OK to say that the C10 does not matter. Thanks.

My fault I should have read the thread properly, (out of practice), you need to resolder that also. You need to solder from the back of the board as said.

OK I understand. The C10 needs replacing too then because when I desolder the C10, one end will be too short. Any idea where I could get any C10's from. Thanks.

I had the C14 replaced (and the C10 replaced by a 104z.)

I just got home and tried to flash it but as soon as I put the plug on, there was a sound of cracker inside the box and from the top I could see white sparkles.

I've opened the box only to find that the wires that connect to the PSU from the power is burnt. One of the wires looks to have been burnt by the soldering iron. However, it's not compeletly burnt though you can tell.

Anyone know where I can get any replacement wires from or is my box completely finished. I'm going to see the guy from the shop that done it Monday to pay for it.

Thanks

The wires can't be soldered on because these are those three black wires that come from the mains of where the plug is connected and those wires (two of them) are connected to the PSU of the Max V and the other one is attached with the screw that holds the PSU board on the Max V.

Thanks.

Google Awsatellites and you will get a replacement PSU there, the guy that owns it is called Alex he will look after you. The PSU will cost around £15 to £20 or so.

And yes I would get the guy who "repaired" it to pay for it at the very least.

So because of those wires I now have to replace the PSU. Oh crap - the problem that I'm going to have is that the PSU connector to the other board is glued on. This just get's worser and worser.

Its not glue its resin and comes off quite easily. The reason I said get a new PSU is because if you seen sparks and the cables going to the molex plug are burnt, God know what damage he done.

So for safety reasons I recommend you get a new PSU as said Alex should sort you out.

I just remembered that even if I get the PSU board, how will it work considering that the new board will not have those three black cables that provide the power from the plug. Won't I need to replace those and not the PSU because those black wires are seperate or am I wrong.

Is Scouser or Hiteck here. Does anyone know where I can get those three black cable wires. Without them, the box is useless.

Do you know the three black wires from where the power comes from. The ones where they are connected to the PSU by connector (two wires) and the other wire is screwed on the board. One of the wires is burnt or has been accidentally soldered by the moron at the shop.

When I put the power cord in the Max V, there were cracker sounds and I could see white sparkles. There was a minor smell but I'm guessing it's the wire that has been burnt cos I've changed the C14 and the C10.

Do you know what I'm talking about? Do you know where the power cord goes in at the back of the Max V and where the power goes to, it's those three balck wires. Thanks.
