Everything is done. I just flashed my new drive and it works! I started off using Jungleflasher, but kept kept getting "invalid drive status". Then I tried flashing in dos, but no luck. Finally I used Dos32 in Windows. It took 3 tries before I nailed it.
I think if I would have used the Sata card instead of the onboard sata ports, it would have been less trouble.
The motherboard plays a big part also. I tried using that 360 Molex power adapter and my computer kept locking up, so I used the power from the 360. But a friend of mines said he never had that problem.
Oh and one more thing for beginers. When flashing these Lite-on drives, it's a 80% chance you will fail on the first try. So keep trying.

Yes, that is correct.

I have a similar problem. I extracted the key from the drive, erased it and began writing the firmware. Then my computer froze and i was forced to reboot, the drive is not not working it wont eject and when the xbox is turned on there is a red light on the front.

I have ordered a new lite-on. As i got the dummy.bin, identify.bin, inquiry.bin, and the key.bin from the other drive i will be able to flash the new one using this info wont i?

Also it was mentioned earlier in the thread about checking the serial info in the dummy.bin. This is what the is in the drive serial:
----------------------------------------------------------------------

0000: 44 36 30 38 43 47 38 32 - 35 39 31 35 30 30 52 59 D608CG82591500RY
0010: 31 20 20 20 FF FF FF FF - FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF 1 ............
0020: FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF - 41 30 FF FF FF FF FF FF ........A0......
0030: FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF - FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF ................
0040: FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF - FF FF FF FF 41 31 FF FF ............A1..
-------------------------------------------------------------

Can someone please give me some guidance as to whether i will be able to use this key for the new drive. Thanks

The method used to extract the info was flawed and serial data is missing. You can use DSDBfixer or Jungle Flasher 0.1.55 to fix this. You will have to take apart your Lite-ON drive and read the stickers off the laser and PCB board. And then flash the firmware.

Thanks for the replies. i used the video tutorial and it is now flashed and working with backup games. The problem seemed to be that everytime i tried to write the firmware it froze when writing bank 0. I fixed this by connecting to a different sata port and it worked straightaway.

Thanks again for your help
