I guess it must be something with contacts and cables, but would have to see. Try connecting with composite video instead of SCART if you have that option. I had many problems with cheap low quality SCART connectors, mainly resulting in similar problems as you describe. Does it change or move, if you try to push or move the cable?

ive tried moving it about, pulling it out and back in etc but nothing seems to fix it. I didnt actually get anything with it which was strange, only the audio cables so i was forced to used the one from my old dvd player. Although i have mentioned the problem to someone with the same player and he has said that the firmware upgrade should fix it as its apparently a known bug

Hi
I can't seem to skip to the next track when playing MP3 files on my DVX 6600. The forward.back buttons on the remote only jumps down pages in the file list.
Is this normal?
I would love to be able to skip forward and back while playing a DVD of MP3s, would make it more like a HUGE audio CD.
Am I missing something?
Also does anyone know if Yamada plan to support m3u or pls playlists in the player?
Cheers

Just replaced my Yamada 6100 with a 6600. Now find I have to finalise my DVD-+RWs before they'll play. Didn't have to with the 6100.
Anyone else find their 6600 plays without finalising??

Dont know about DVD-RW because I never tried one, but multisession DVD-R (not finalised) work just fine in my DVX-6600.

Kan2:
Read this web-page:
http://uk.special.reserve.co.uk/q_GG3334_dvd__divx_player__.html
Notably:
? Disc compatibility: DVD, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R, DVD+RW, Audio CD, CD-R, CD-RW, VCD, SVCD, MP3-CD, MP3-DVD, PCM, JPEG-CD, JPEG-DVD
I dont see KVCD there sorry dude. Looks like the player is decoding your KVCD format partially and this is why you get some sort of blocky picture.
The following page lists DVD players compatible with KVCD format video. No Yamada stuff listed there either I'm afraid.
http://www.kvcd.org/portal/articles.php?lng=en&pg=19
I think your best bet is to wait for the official patch to arrive. Its still in beta as you can see here:

The .srt subtitle support, even after the last (v3) upgrade is lousy! I mean, I have extra care converting each non .srt subtitle to .srt, renaming it to same name as the .avi and still lots of .srt dont work!
Some do work, others not. I cant tell why!!

Good news!
I have now installed the beta firmware and can happily report that it now plays these two video files.
The.Lord.Of.The.Rings.The.Return.Of.The.King.2003.DVDRip.DivX.AC3.CD3-KT.avi
The.Lord.Of.The.Rings.The.Return.Of.The.King.2003.DVDRip.DivX.AC3.CD4-KT.avi
Previously it did not. It just flickered with the first 10 or so frames then went back to the Yamada screen with the disk contents listed.
Those were downloaded from Overnet.
I burned them to PCline (un-branded) 70min CDRs using finalised ISO 9660 format (mode 1). They didnt work when I had burned them to branded memorex ones before the patch either so it must be the firmware.
Was funny when I upgraded the firmware and everything turned into a chinese char set. I couldnt find the user guide for quite a while to change it to english...

I had problems with LOTR and other divx when it was encoded with 800 horizontal resolution. Also bad interlacing of audio makes movie unwatchable. All this works fine on PC, but not on a player, but it should be understandable. I am more annoyed with subs, because even after converting to srt and renaming and burning on a new cd, sometimes it doesn't work, when it works it is not centered and includes funny characters for EOL, does not include national characters etc..

I've just received a DVX-6600 today, and just upgraded it to the Aug 4th Firmware (6600r4.zip) but I am unable to play any MPEG4 movies created using the M$ MPEG4-v2 codec.
I can hear the sound OK but instead of the video I just get the directory browse screen :(
Old DIV3 and newer XVID content works well, but I have hundreds of "MP42" encoded discs that this player won't even touch, irrelevant of the picture size.
Any ideas? (aside from re-encode my entire collection!)

Just upgraded my DVX-6600's firmware to v4 with some quite strange results. The subtitles work just fine, but for some reason the colors went out of balance.
The picture seems to lack cyan tones, so that everything is very reddish and greenish. So far I have only tried S-video output.
The twisted color balance is clearly visible in player's menus as well. They are not neutral grey anymore but greenish in tone.
Anyone else noticed similar effects on their players?
-----
Problem solved: Just needed to reset everything to default settings thru setup menu. Colors came immediately back the way they are meant to be.

Last friday I have received my new DVX-6600 (89? with 19% tax and shipping included) and until now everyting I have puted on to watch has been played well(DviX, XviD, DVD).
I haven?t been capable to watch any movie (Divx or XviD) with subtitles, although I haven?t change any subtitle file to the same name as the file movie or is file extension to SRT.
Strange is that the latest firmware version at disposal to download from yamada web site is the 4º version and my yamada has the 5º version. Weird.

Hi guys, I have been reading this forum for a couple of months now! and I recently bought a dvx-6600 which I have upgraded with the latest firmware so that I can use srt files... everything works fine.
But... has anone else notices that if you are playing a 4:3 aspect video then you have the top and bottom cut off... (tried on over 10 different tvs, 16:9 and 4:3!!) this isnt so much of a problem on most things, it is when Im watching videos which have been subtitled on the actual video stream (not srt subs)..
The only fix I have found is to watch the videos at 1/2 size, which is pretty annoying, does anyone know of a more elegant way around this?

Stupid question from a beginner: How the hell I see which FW I have on Yamada 6600 ? I have burned the v4 FW but on the burned CD I have 2 files: one 6000 and one 6600 AVG files. Is that OK ?

YAMADA 6600 subtitles
Pells, in order to view the SRT subtitles, the CD must be closed (not only the session). Besides, you can use a subtitles editor (SubtitleWorkShop is just fine) to split the lines larger than 60 characters.
If these are done, I guess the only thing to be fixed by a newer Firmare is aboul the LeftAlignment.
HTH.
