Hmm, vista. Turn off all windows firewall settings and ensure that media sharing is on (this isnt' in tversity). Are you running a 3rd party firewall softare? (norton, etc) Turn it off! Make sure all the discovery options are on as well. Have you done this?

If you know the IP of the 360, can you ping it from your Vista PC now?

Okay. I thought you said one was an access point? There is a huge difference! TWO routers on a network will cause huge network problems. Just use one router and see what that does. As stated above you probably have DHCP on both routers which are conflicting the entire network.

well id just rather have two routers running, i dont have a 100 ft cat 5e cable to run and would rather not run it.. do you mean turn DHCP servers off? i can do that :) btw one router is running official firmware and the other is running hacked "if you want to call it that" firmware to connect to the first router over wireless.

You don't understand. You cannot simply plug two routers in a network, it does not work unless you're using one as an access. Make sure both have an IP on the same network and that one of the routers has DHCP turned off to avoid conflict. Also, make sure router #2 is not using the WAN port, and LAN only. Then it's an access point

DHCP locally. First you need to check your access point and router and make sure only ONE of them has dhcp (locally) on. You don't even use the WAN port on the access point (if there is one) so those settings won't matter.

ok done, but once i pull the plug on the local dhcp then does that not kill the ip settings if there is a power outage? or if "like i have to do" take the router from one room to another? and i never used the wan port, im sorry if i never mentioned that xD kept forgetting to :P

DHCP should be turned on one of the routers only. Typically the router that is using the WAN port should have this one, then the other that is only using the access point, should have it off. If not, then they will battle each other and assign different IPs to machines on the network. Has nothing to do with power or moving it. Settings will be the same. You just set it to disable on the access point only.

Is your local pc getting an IP? How is your ISP setup? DHCP or static? You may want to see if there is a firmware update on Linksys website for that router as well. You do have the local DHCP turned on one of the routers right?

Not sure why your pc is having a hard time getting DNS then. Reboot the router and Flush the nic. Right click, diagonse, reset.
