Don't want to confuse you but you don't need DVD Decrypter. Just use Shrink as it does exactly what Decrypter does. Why people use to use Decrypter along with Shrink was that Shrink would not work without first doing Decrypter. Now Shrink will decrypt and shrink the movie so no use to use Decrypter.
This will save you some time and trouble. If you are useing Decrypter to burn it will still work.

Hi all, just to make things clear.
Shrink will rip, compress and encode. But it doesn't burn by itself. It needs a burning engine like Nero or DVD Decrypter. Nero is $70 and DVD Decrypter is free.

Flip218, you are exactly correct. I just was saying that you don't have to use Decrypter to encode as Shrink does that also now.
Of course you will have to have Decrypter IF you want to use it to burn the image to disc.
Happy ripping and burning.
I use Imation DVD+R disc and have not had any problems as far as them being able to burn the image. Sometimes I screw up and mess it up myself but no fault of the disc media.

Really? Is this full version, upgrade or oem? Also read a different thread. Will have to try your method of DVD43 and Nero Recode2.

Flip-go for it, one thing, sometimes I had a little glitch with DVD43, so I bought Anydvd(somewhere around 30-40 bucks), and NO problems at ALL. It's just sits there doing it's thing and you never know it's there. I also tried DVD Region Free, but I like Anydvd better. Anyway you can try it for about 20-30 days for free, but let me warn ya, you'll buy it if you try it. Damn! I think this Jack is making me a poet. Good luck!

Flip218,
Thanks to bigorange, I now use ANYDVD and Nero Recode2.
FANTASTIC.......Don't use anything else, don't need to.
I am now useing the trail vs. of ANYDVD but I am buying it because it is absolutely foolproof. As bigorange says, it just sits there and does what it is suppose to.
I tried DVD43 but could not get it to work.
If I can't find ANYDVD cheaper than 39.00 I will have to buy the key from ANYDVD website direct.
********Does anyone know of a website where I can purchase it any cheaper than 39.00? If you do I would appreciate the information.
I have searched and can't find one.

Nothing wrong with Shrink, Wonderful program,. I have used it also but prefer Nero REcode 2. Have used DVDDecrypter also wonderful program but find recode simplier.
With ANYDVD installed, it simply encodes your movie files and then automatically goes to Nero and burns without problems.

totally agree, still use nve 2 also cos I like to make my own menus. Working with a trial version of DVDLab now just to see how much more it will do than nve 2. It definitely does more, but I have to be able to operate it and I'm working with a small deck o' cards. Thanx for the tip on the other thread, I'll check it out.

I must say I was pleasantly surprised with Recode2. Thank you bigorange for the steps. It was nice to learn another way to backup, and backup successfully. I guess you just need to ask yourself how much you wanna spend.
XCopy Platinum- as low as $79
DVD Cloner 2 - $59
Nero 6 - as low as $49.99
AnyDVD - $39.99
DVD43 - Free
DVD Shrink - Free
DVD Decrypter - Free
So, for everyone who is new, just make sure you read or even ask how to do it right. Will save you time, money(less coasters) and the headaches.

No problem flip, glad you liked it. I'm constantly looking for new ways. Never know when one will work when another won't. Maybe I outta write a guide so I won't have to write all this anymore. I know I could get the operation of Anydvd right. lol lol

Bigorange that is a good idea. I don't think I've seen a guide for AnyDVD or DVD43 with Nero Recode2.

Hi all,
New at this forum but not new to burning dvd's. And like everyone here I've got more than my fair share of coasters. But the other day I found a little program called DVD Region-Free. This little gem is worth it's weight in gold. Just install this on your system and you can use any software to copy the dvd as if there was no protection whatsoever. Whith this program running in the backround I use Nero recode to burn the image directly off the dvd. I've even used Nero recode to burn the image on the fly to a blank dvd and it worked fine ( although I wouldn't recomend it).

Aqua, DVD region free is well known in this forum, it runs in the background just like Anydvd. I prefer Anydvd just a little bit better, but both are excellent rippers. Another program called DVD43 which is freeware also does the same thing but sometimes, every once in a while gets squirrely. Love recode 2 with either, great combo. Welcome to the forum.

Hi bigorange.
Thanks for the welcome.
I guess I should have known that most people on this forum have probably been using dvd region-free months before I found. LOL.
Still, I thought it was worth a mention.

Huge Thanks for advice from all in this forum!
Recently bought 8x i/o magic burner and it came
with PowerDVD. PowerDVD played the .iso image
created on a simulated drive (E:) with sound.
Used Decrypter and Shrink and then decrypter
to write iso image created by shrink. The iso
image on drive C created by shrink could be played
with sound by WM9, Divx player, but not by
PowerDVD (would have to be in a simulated drive).
My DVD player recognised the chapters of the
burned iso image from Decrypter so could use them
to forward. Really appreciate the help here. Thanks

hey im new too all this burning ripping stuff so bear with me. I have Clone DVD 2 on my pc but only the trial version, so i have read all of the other listings on this website and decided to download DVD Shrink and also DVD Dercypter. I only have one DVD Burner and ROM and the other CD device is just a CD ROM so i have to put the movie on my hard drive using decrypter and DVD Shrink if its too big and then have tryed to burn the DVD with decrypter using the guides as help. The couple of times i have done it this way everytime i do to play the DVD-R it says "A disc with an unsupported format in my DVD-RW drive, it also wont play in my stand alone dvd player(the CloneDVD2 ones play on all). When i use CloneDVD2 with DVD Decrypter i have no problems making them. Can someone please help me!! Thanks
