'Conan the Barbarian' downloaders beware, studio starts mass lawsuit

article published on 28 February, 2012

Movie studio Nu Image has started a mass lawsuit against alleged downloaders of the 2011 movie 'Conan the Barbarian.' The suit against 2165 individuals, was filed last Friday. The move follows Nu Image's failed attempt to sue 23,322 downloaders of 'The Expendables,' the largest such P2P lawsuit in history. The former suit was dismissed within months, but it appears that Nu's lawyers have ... [ read the full article ]

It looks like to me the people they should sue, would be the ones who make all the software and equipment that people use to do it, but then of course some of them would have to sue themselves, like Sony.(Ha) This has never made sense to me. If i do download it and it is worth having I'm going to go purchase it later. Now they turn out movies so fast to keep making money and they don't care if they are pieces of crap and expect us to pay high prices to get in to see them. I haven't gone to the movies in years now, because the last several I went to see were junk and weren't worth my time or money. If you purchase anything else and it turns out to be junk you can take it back and get a refund.

Yup... Quite the pot calling the kettle black isn't it? The very companies moaning & bitching about piracy are the one's developing & selling the very equipment they're putting into consumer's hands to do said piracy.

Dare I say a conspiracy to promote higher sale revenue on entertainment lost on earlier poor production decisions? Either way, why should the consumer still continue to fork out the coin for piss poor performance? Let them suck wind like the rest of us.

Of course it costs a lot of money to make these movies because they pay actors/actresses enormous sums of money. I don't see any of them or movie studio bosses crying poor.

The quality of movies coming out of Hollywood are pathetic, and are, quite frankly not worth the price of the DVD media they are printed on.

One study that I read about, indicated that if movies were released on DVD earlier, and released around the world at the same time, piracy would decline. Why should someone have access to a movie 2 months ahead of someone living elsewhere. And Region Codes, well don't get me started on that.
