Hi all

I was wondering if there is a way to make dvd decrypter write any faster.

Im trying to backup GTA san andreas and the average write rate is only 0.5x

Even if i set dvd decrypter to write at 32x i get the same result.

any help is much appreciated thanks

What media are you using? What burner do you have? Check to see if your burner supports 4x+ speeds on your chosen media. Also, check to see if there are any firmware upgrades for your burner.

I think its your media.. if it's these..

TDK DVD-Rs (DVD-R47CB15) (DVDMR47CB15)

they only support up to 2x. Old media with a new burner would be my best guess. Buy a couple -R's that support atleast 4x speeds and see what happens.

When I try to write at 8x or at MAX, (even though I know my media wont write that fast) DVD Decrypter says in the info box that 4x is max and sets it accordingly.

By the way.. have you used the light-scribe feature yet? Waitiing till they make it scribe in color instead of greyscale before I try one out.

It is more than likely the media that you are using, try using a high grade ritek or maxell media and see if that fixes your prob, i would use +R, and set the game to burn at 2X max for better performance.

I wouldn't put too much faith in Maxell, but every xbox has it's likes and dislikes. Buy the cheapest quantity you can get, like a 3 pack; that way you aren't out too much money if they are junk. Find a brand that works consistantly, then buy in bulk.

What DVD drive do you have in your xbox? http://www.llamma.com/xbox/Repairs/Images/DVDComparison.jpg

yes Maxell is a very good media to use, I have never had any problems with skipping after making movies, but it all depends on what kind of player you are using it on, such as some Ritek disks have problems playing all the way through on the PS2 platform and Maxell has always performed great....it is a trial and error process, once you figure out what media plays best on your DVD player, stick with it!
