you shouldnt have any problems burning at x 4,i have never hardly burnt at x1/x2,and have hardly had any failures, and with that,i have over 500 titles
as long as you have good media, and a good burner, there is no reason why they shouldnt work first time

youre using swap magic right?just to let you know, swap magic some times has difficulty reading backups over 4gb and more specifically backups over 4.3gb.if you backup games over 4gb you wouldnt want to burn them at high speeds.2x works best for large games.but 4x could work for smaller games.alot of people that burn at 4x have a modchip or are backing up games that arent so big.you could get large games to work at 4x with swap magic, but you would have to find the perfect media for your burner to do so.there is no way for you to tell what is the best media for your burner unless you experiment with different media to compare to each other or you could find someone with the same burner and see what worked best for them.burning backups close to the edge of the disc can cause more read errors,so getting a really good burn is necessary(the best solution would to try and make the game size smaller).youre new to burning so you should start out slow by burning at 2x then as you get more experienced try expanding on your technique.
