I tried most brand of DVD for Gamecube... and nothing works.

I wonder if my trouble would be here: DVD-R or DVD+R?

I always used DVD-R util this day.

It is correct?

DVD-R has worked wonderfully for me. Check your pot settings to ensure they aren't too high (seach gor GC pot tweak).

Everyone talks about ritek being the best. I bought some no name cheap 50 spindle of the minis for $20 and I haven't got a DRE YET. You might try those?

If you're not getting any -R media to work, then you're probably not going to get any +R media to work either.

#1: Burner. The cube is very picky about burn quality, and most burners out there just don't cut it. NEC 35xx series drive is one of the better choices.

#2: Laser tweaking. Some cube owners have reported they didn't need to tweak their lasers, but more often then not, you will. (Burned media is not the same as pressed media, and doesn't have the same reflectivity, and needs higher laser strength to get a return)

#3: Good media. Ritek g04 or something equivelent. FujiFilm disks tend to be pretty good. I think this is probably the least important point out of the 3, as I've gotten low quality CompUSA (CMC) discs to work just fine.

Also, some images out there can not be burned as is (older images pre modchip days). They are stripped and realigned, and need to be fixed to work from media. Use something like fstfix 1.3f (stay away from the GUI versions, as they all seem to be flawed and create bad gcm's).

Having used both, I can tell you this is not true.

Even from day one, +R media has been a source of issues for people. Some drive mechs being used just won't work with it at all. In the case that you have a drive that is compatable, then +R generaly works ok in most cases. However, even in this case, +R is still problematic for some people when direct booting. I, along with a few others have an issue when you direct boot +R, the spindle motor speed is slower, makes a paper scraping noise, and DRE very quickly. Yet these same +R discs work perfectly when booted via a swap method (with either an original disc or -R backup used as the boot disc). There are no such direct booting issues with -R media at all.

All in all, +R "works", that's all that can be said. But -R across the board works for more people with less issues. Personaly, I stopped using +R media all together a while ago.
