OK I love TY DVD-R 4x silver that I've been buying from supermediastore.com but all the fingerprints make the backups really ugly after a while. Instead I've been buying the Ritek G04 4x DVD-R inkjet printable since the price for those is pretty decent and since supermediastore.com is an official relailer for Ritek so they have to be the real thing. I would prefer to buy TY DVD-R 8x inkjet printable but they are about $0.60/each. Can anybody recommend the next best thing on DVD-R, 4x, with a top that has no or small labels (not TY DVD-R 8x), it doesn't have to be a white top but that would be preferable. Am I buying the next best thing with Ritek G04? DigitalFAQ.com would say so. Any help much appreciated.

Also, if the TY DVD-R 9x inkjet printable is worth the $0.60/each then I probably would get them since whats the point in having great hardware and software if you're using crap media.

I switched from the inkjet Ritek to the TY inket 8x. At the time I was using non inkjet TY's and inkjet Ritek. I most have got a bad batch of the Ritek cause maybe 15 - 20 out of 100 were bad. Zero bad out of 100 with TY's. The difference (besides quality - imo) is the Ritek's have a glossier printable surface while the TY's have a rougher matte surface.
Go with the TY's.

i agree with what binkie7 mentioned...not much for me to add here~:)

while i have never used the Ritek G04s, i have nothing but smooth, perfect burns with the 8x Ritek G05s variety~ i use TY 8x silver inkjet printables only because i like that glossiness over the white tops (just personal preference) :)

TYs come at a premium, but i have to say, you get what you pay for...quality media demands a slightly higher price, but, you can't go wrong w/ the TY printables vjbob~ :P

as you stated :

seems like you answered your own question, stick with the good stuff, you will be pleased with the results~ good media comes with a price tag but worth the extra few cents/disc in the long run~ :)

good luck
