This isn't about backuped games I am using the original copies. Before I installed the Fliptop on my PS2 Castlevania SOTN worked fine, now with my fliptop on it freaks out when I put it in, it makes a coughing sound and I get "DISC READ ERROR", the wierd thing is FF VII works fine. I would greatly aprepiate it if someone told me what is going on, and possibly how to fix it.
Does it read other psx games? If it does than it must be the game itself is damaged! Or.............it may be the laser! try cleaning the laser (its easier with a flip top)

I know it can't be the disc because I have played them before and they have worked fine, It may be the laser but I don't see how it could play GTA:SA without any trouble but go crazy over a PS1 game.
I also got the slim pstwo and the ps1 games work fine when its hooked up to my HDTV through a composite (yellow, red, white) av or s-video but when I use the official Sony component cable or the Monster Gamelink 400 I can't play the ps1 games on my ps2 (pstwo), the game will start loading (I tried like 7 different ps1 games), the ps1 logo would come up and this will freeze or the game will start loading and then no logo or any image (just a black screen) would come up but you can hear the game's sound (usually the title screen theme song) u just can't see anything. I called the offical sony support services at Sony Computer Entertainment America (800-345-7669 (800-345-SONY) and a representative had told me he had not heard of this problem before. He asked his superior (I waited on the phone a couple of minutes while he did this) and then told me that his superior said that it might be that my HDTV is to advance (new) and that it my had outdated the ps1 software (DUH!) but that the games may work on older HDTV's (?). Well, yeah, I got what I already suspected for an answer but they did not offer any solution and they wouldn't tell me if this was also the case with the older version ps2 (the original, bigger console). Some ps2 games wont work with the component cables neither, this is the case with ICO (the pseudo prequel to Shadow Of The Colossus), once again I don't know if this issues are only brought by the PSTWO (ps2 slim); if you got a regular ps2 (the original) with a copy of this game(s) and a component cable hooked up to it, see if the same issuse(s) arise.
