My basic setup is router to one NIC and my XBOX connected with another NIC card.

Alright here's my problem...I just got a netgear router and hooked it up in my sister's room with a cable modem...so everything works correctly meaning I can go on the internet from both computers.

I set my xbox to dhcp and setup ics on the computer in my room but the xbox won't find a dhcp address, it says 0.0.0.0...

Sometimes it finds the address but thats only when I first set ics up.

I can ftp to the xbox with static fine.

I just want to know if anyone has any idea's on what the problem could be or an idea of what to do.

your xbox must be connected to the router in order to automatically obtain a ip address...since your xbox is setup through your pc with a crossover cable you need to set the ip/subnet/gateway on the xbox.

all you gotta do is hook the xbox up to the router and your dhcp problem will be solved.

On your PC...
Go to start, run and type "cmd" without the quotes

Once you see the blinking cursor, type

"ipconfig /all"
No quotations needed and make sure there is a space after the g.

All the info you need will pop up (i.e. IP, Subnet, Gateway, DNSs, etc.

On you PC...Go to start and run...
In the window, type "cmd" (no quotes)
Once you have the command prompt cursor, type "ipconfig /all" (no quotes and make sure you hit space after the "g"
All the info you need will pop up, and then some.

Write down your subnet, gateway, dns addresses, etc and input those into your xbox's network settings where they correspond. The you should be good to go.
