I have tried all the sugestions, I've used "dvd shrink" and "dvd decripter" with "anydvd" running in the background, but when I burn the cd it only plays in my pc. I'm new to this but my standalone has played other burnt dvd's just not the ones I'm making, and I'm using the same disks as it has played before (Verbatim DVD-R). The burner came with my pc so I don't know what kind it is, all I know is it is a 16x dual layer cd/dvd +/- burner. Doe anyone have any suggestions.

your media can be the culprit.
there are dvd - r and dvd + r you might need to try a differnt blank dvd and give it a whirl
from my very limited expierence the dvd - r seem to play more stnad alones than the dvd + r

I am using the DVD-R's though and they still won't work.
I have checked out my standalone it's a santo DWM-400 and it has played burnt disks before just ones burnt on a different pc. Any other suggestions?

I'll be happy to walk you through this but I need more info. Are you using window xp, if so, pull up you start menu and click my computer. It'll show you what type of burner you have. Right click on it and then click properties and it shows you a more detailed description of your burner. Now to your problem. It's possible you may need a firmware update for your burner, which you can get from the maker of your burner on the net or you can click on this link http://www.dvdplusvideo.com/tutorial007.html then click on PC Prep and go from there. In addition, slow down your burn speed to 4x speed. It takes longer but you get better results. The faster the burn the higher the chance for burn errors. Hope this helps!

Yes I'm using Windows xp and my burner is a PHILLIPS DVD +-R DVD 8631. I have also even tried burning at 2.4 speed but still no luck. If I check for updates from the properties link it goes nowhere.

Try changing the booktype to DVD-ROM in Decrypter. I had similar problems but since I started burning DVD+Rs booktyped as DVD-ROM on 1x speed I've had no trouble.

Do you have Nero? Can you do a disc quality scan and post results?
