Is there such a program out there to do this on a mac? I have a external DVD burner and have no problem burning DVDs from the store, but wanted to see if I could download them off the net and burn them to DVD. I read I need a converter, but don't know where to get one, for a mac anyway. Thanks!
i have a program for the mac that can turna any file into any other file
its called ffmpegX
i think i found it at download.com or type it into any search engine on the net. I am also trying to find out how to burn movies i dl off the internet onto dvds. most of the forums are about PC's. I found this one so hopefully you know what to do once you conver the files.
Well once the files are converted, you should be able to drag that folder into your burner software (I have Toast) and that should do it just like if I were to burn from a real DVD. If I get the process down, I will let you know. Thanks for the tip.
Check out the forum "Avi to Mpeg2 or Mpeg 4." I just responded the same question and it will solve your problem. by the way do you know when you move from newbie to member?
Thank you, I got it. So I downloaded this program and the first screen I get is something like this:
In order to comply with applicable laws, etc, open source encoding components are NOT distributed with ffmpegX. Download them from the URL, select them from your disk and click INSYALL. And then it gives me a list of mpeg2enc, mencoder and mplayer. Do I need these things before I can continue?
It either says instal or quit, when I hit quit, it does just that. I got the last two, installed them, and it gave me a error like the download page said it might, so I installed the earlier version, but I just have to get the last one, which is actually the first option. mpeg2enc - if I go to that page, it is really confusing to me. Please help! Thanks :-)
