I have an Emerson EWR10d4 and use Comp USA DVD-R x1 and DVD-R 1x-4x.
I've burned 20 movies using this cheap media and it works great.
Works on Sharp, GE, Toshiba and Kawasaki DVD Players w/o any problems.
In reading several posts it looks like when this media is used on DVD Burners (computers) many users have issues but with table top standalones this media works fine.
Not a bad burn yet over here.

...and your point is.....?....
i'm not being funny btw...if you give more info (ie run dvdinfopro and give us the media code) we can make sense of your post and either recommend this no-name media or show it up to be atrocious...

Ok the point is maybe the reason there are so many bad results using these DVD is that the software used on the computer is not as compatable as a standalone when using these DVD's.
As I do not own a DVD Burner (computer), I can not use dvdinfo.
I do know that the DVD-R x1 are Princo and the DVD-R 1x-4x are AML.

well all i can say is have a look here for the 2 makes you mentioned - http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/155431
Great if that media works for you, and in the kind of recorder you use, but i still wouldn't recommend crap media to anyone myself.
CD's - granted, most rubbish works for mosts purposes, even audio, but DVD's, i'd have trouble recommending crap media even for data backups.
Just my five pence as crap media is one of my fave subjects

Not that it is a big deal, but what makes it crap media if it works great? Have you tried them and found them to be crap or are you just a name brand type of guy?
I do also use Maxell DVD-RW and DVD-R. Can't notice a difference.
At DVDhelp.com many folks list these Comp Usa's as good.

I purchased these very disks from CompUSA, they are Princo. I could not get them to burn on my Lite-on Sohw 1633S, NEC 1300A, BTC 1008UI or HP640C. Friend did burn on their Memorex burner, but got poor results. I cannot recommend this media, but if it works for you that is great :~)

I don't think you are getting at me, but I guess I just want as much data as I can to support these claims. I bought alot of these disc's (very cheap so if they do crap out I am only out of 35 bucks for 140 disc's)
I've read my recorder stinks to its the best for the money as well.
Sometimes brand names are good but no names are just as good. Just looking for fact.
I read your thread, but in it you stated that you never used Princo's and no one has talked about AML's.
I did read in one post that some guy burned over 500 princo's w/o a problem.

when it comes to equipment of any kind, yes i was always into brand names, even when i couldn't afford brands (ie i'd just save 'til i cud get a brand name). Nowadays there's so much cheap kit out there, you a) can virtually afford to buy cheapy dvd players & chuck them if they break as they're so cheap, and b) mosty cheap dvd players kick the arse of expensive players.
But with media, crap is still crap. Far too many ppl post far too many bad things about crap media on far too many different websites for the problem to be ignored. I personally just cannot afford any media most of the time, never mind waste more money (as i have done before) on questionable brands of media. It's all about choice at the end of the day, but what i won't do is recommend other ppl waste their hard earned money on crap; if they can afford it that's fine but i still won't recommend it as it's bad advice. If i haven't used a certain brand (good or bad) i'll always say so, but still will only recommend quality media

@GregRod
I am sorry I misunderstood your post, I thought you were talking about PC burning. I was unable to burn these disks on a PC, however I did use them in my Panasonic DVD Recorder and they did work out okay. Probably for this type of use they would be okay, but not for a PC burner :~)

I tried Taiyo Yuden DVD's and every other one came up as bad media on my Sony PC burner. Took those same ones that were bad, tried them on my Sony DVD Recorder (GRX7) that's on my home entertainment system and they worked fine??
Not saying TY dvd is crap since everyone here speaks highly of them. Im sure I just got a bad batch.
My point is you may have problems with those Comp USA dvd's if you tried burning them off a burner on a PC. In my experience it made a difference.
