Cannot access xbox hdd on computer

I tried installing phoenix-bios/debug-dashboard to use the XDK. I FTP all files on the xbox with no problem. Xbox now reboots with servicing error and hdd is not accessible through FTP.

I tried pluging the xbox hdd in my computer to recover the original files, but the hdd does not appear in explorer (ever after "new hardware found" and "installed"). Is this because the hdd is locked?

How can I get access to my files and recover without formating?

I know I can get good advice on this site. Thanx!
