Hello guys.

I need a little help burning these files. I downloaded Breath of Fire IV for the PSX, and Resident Evil 2 for the PSX off of a torrent site. I got these files :

BOFIV :

.CCD
.CUE
.IMG
.SUB

RE2 :

.CCD
.IMG
.SUB

Now, being that both are CloneCD files, I thought I would of just burned it using my CloneCD (5.2.4.2) with TDK Cd-R's. With CloneCD settings at Game cd, 2x, and "Don't Repair SubChannel data" checked, and weak sectors on "Amplify". Well, it didnt work :(

I checked to see if both games could work with ePSXe, and they do. But, I cant seem to get them to work on my PS2.

After reading around, I found out that some PSX games come with Libcrypt as a anti-mod enrcyption. I checked these two files with ClonyXX. Both came up with three skulls, and with Libcrypt. I tried looking around for patches for these games, but came up empty handed. The only patches I can find are for JAP releases, or PAL/NTSC selectors. Nothing dealing with Anti-mod. Most guides said to go to MegaGames.com, but nothing their, other than the mentioned patches.

So, in short, how do I burn these two games? Again, I've been using CloneCD (5.2.4.2) and TDK discs. Burning at 2x, and checking the "Don't Repair SubChannel Data", and weak sectors set to "Amplify".

Anything else? How do I burn files like this, if they have Libcrypt on them? Do I change the .ccd images to something else, like a .bin/.cue and burn it with NERO or Alcohol? I've also tried this by converting the .ccd images to .bin/.cue, and burning it with CDRwin, but again, no succes.

I would appreciate any help, I've looked all day online to see if I could figure it out myself, and just ended up wasting 5 dics. Thank you in advance :)

You may have burned them right, but to boot PS1 games off PS2 you need to use either a breaker pro, an old gameshark V2 bonus disk, a mod chip, or a memorycard exploit(V9 PS2s only). You can't boot them as PS2 games. Hope that helps.

Thanks, I guess I forgot to mention how I play them.

I use a Gameshark 2 v2, with the bonus PSOne disc to boot up the backups, with the slide card tool to get them to work. I downloaded Legend of Mana as a .ccd file, and got it to work. For the life of me, I just cant get this to work. Thanks though!

Ok then, thats the same method I use. Except that I always use Alcohol 120% to burn my PS1 games, including .CCD files. It's always worked for me with the PS1 profile. Worth a try I suppose.

Well, thanks again for the reply. I tried Alcohol and it didnt work. I set it to the Playstation profile, and burned it at the lowest setting. Nothing. If it has Libcrypt on it does that make a difference, even with Gameshark swap methods? How do I bypass it?

Alcohol shouldn't have a problem with Libcrypt, at least i've never had one. One more thing you can try, it's what I do with problem images. Mount the ccd image on alcohol's virtual drive then use the copy wizard to make your copy. I've had that help me before so..I hope it helps, man. :)

Well, thanks again Malcdogg, as you seem to be the only one willing to help.

I already tried the mounting trick, with Alcohol and CloneCD too. Now, again from what I've heard Capcom games are very stubburn with their Libcrypt problems. After googling Breath of Fire IV and seeing if anyone else had this problem, it turns out quite a few do. Unfortunaly, even with all the hackers in this world, no one seems to be able to give a straight answer. I burn with CloneCD, but the game is just unplayable in my ps2 with gameshark slide tool :(
