I recently purchased a digital "free to air" satellite receiver.
It is a portable unit designed for caravan or camping use.
The instructions which came with it are very vague.
How about a forum discussing which satellites to view and where to point the dish to get the best reception.
I managed to locate 1 satellite, but most of the programs are German.
Any suggestions?

I bought the Porty II from Lydl. I am new to this, so I don't know which "birds" I need to access.
I think the one I can get full strength is Astra, but most of the channels are German.
What is "Charlie" and how do I PM you? and where is your IRC channel?

I found some info here:-

I think you may be pointing at the wrong satellite.
Astra 1 and Astra 2 are quite close. You will receive mainly German programs if you are pointing at the wrong one.

housetree what receiver do you have? also, does it have a quality meter as well as a signal meter? i kno with the pansat it has both but the quality level is the one you want. if you have a cable for your pc then you should be able to load a channel list with gtools or something similar.
