Ok here is my problem. I rip the DVD with SmartRipper no problem. Then with DVD2AVI i select everything it says in the guide, and it took me 2 hours for that. Then when i open TMPGEnc, i have an audio source but no video source! Im presuming i must have done something wrong in DVD2AVI but im not sure. Anywayz i have to find a solution quick cause ive got 8 damn GB on my pc leaving me with only 450 MB on my hard drive left. BTW Im sorry if this problem has appeared many times.

if you did dvd2avi you should have a .d2v file and that is what you load up. you can go here http://entiendo.gotnet.net to see how dvd2avi works...but your bigget problem is that you will not be able to make the mpeg file because it will be at least 2 files of 800mb each..and that will not fit on 450mb free space

no do not save avi...save project... Before it will save, you need to hit the 'f5' key and you will see the movie start. Hit escape after 10 seconds or so and then use the slider bar to make sure the movie plays in the correct order. what it will do is create a .d2v file(about 400k) which acts as a frameserver. This allows you to use the vob files you ripped as the video portion it will use the audio file dvd2avi created to combine the audio and video thru tmpgenc...go to the site i recommended and under dvd makin' it will show this exact step..hope this helps..

Ok, fine then i did it right. But then why won't TMPGEnc read the video source the .d2v file? It says can't open or unsupported.

did you delete the vob files??? If so, that is your problem...if not, did you do the 'F5' function 1st before you save...you need to do that...

TMPGEnc is able to open the .d2v only if the ripped VOB files are intact in place where you ripped them and that you have installed AVI.cfm" class="forum_link" target="_blank">DVD2AVI in full (extracted the package to directory). If it still doesn't open, copy AVI.cfm" class="forum_link" target="_blank">DVD2AVI.vfp file from DVD2AVI's dir to TMPGEnc's dir and relaunch TMPGEnc.

also, make sure you are not using the .d2v file that smartripper created..(usually vts_01.d2v). to make sure I always put the wave file and d2v created by dvd2avi in it's own folder.
