ive tried writing a dvd for a standalone dvd player using two methods, firstly, before finding out about this site, i just opened nero smart start, clicked on make your own dvd, added all the different files i wanted to record (they are tv episodes) then just folowed the rest of the instructions, i sucessfully burnt the disc with a menu and everything so i could pick which episode i wanted, everything worked but there was no sound.

then i found this site and followed the guide at: http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/convert_avi_to_dvd.cfm

i got all the way to burning the disc, but in nero i could not add the different Video_ts.bup and Video_ts.ifo for all the different files (i tryed renaming them and adding them but it still would not let me add them), it would let me add the first ones for the first file but none after that, i thought maybe it wouldnt matter and added the rest of the files for the other episodes but it only wrote the first file and again there was still no sound. (all my codecs are good and work fine)

my computer specs. are fairly new, and i have a nice asus dvd writer thats had no problems before

any help on either or the methods i tried would be greatly appreciated, thanks

all your files have to be uniform. You know all pal or all ntsc .All 4:3 ratio etc. They also have to all be converted to mpeg 2 compatible format which then can be burnt to a dvd disc.

Easy way for you to achieve this is to download vso divx to dvd.All your files, just highlight them and batch encode them through vso divx to dvd.The program will convert them all to a uniform mpeg2 format

then try again with nero or use tmpgenc dvd author first then burn with nero
it would help immensely if you told us your pc stats and the version of the software you are using as well as the media

have fun
