Is there a program out there that can get around the new copyright protection they are putting on cds. I just bought the new foo fighters cd and it is copy protected. I can't even put the tracks on my Ipod.

For the best quality mp3s use EAC (exact audio copy) to rip your audio CDs and LAME to encode them. Follow this guide:

Alot of new music cd's are using protection but sence there music there easy to get around m8, if your looking to rip the cd to ur comp thats easy but it u want to make a 1:1 copy then I would use CloneCD or ALC120 and to find out the protection use ARAY SCANNER which can be found here

note that Alcohol 120 and new versions of clone CD don't make TRUE 1:1 copies. that was outlawed a few years ago. Only clone CD v3.4 and earlier do actual 1:1 copies. but for audio CDs it really won't matter. also if you look at what you have to do in order to rip protected CDs, you will see that its NOT that easy. and whats the point of making a copy of a CD you already own, other than for backup...

Ripping audio cd protection is more hardware based than software based. Audio pc guru's won't use Alcohol 120% to make a backup. Most of them will use EAC(Exact Audio Copy) and rip the audio cd to the hd, then burn back to a cd-r. Some drives can't rip audio cd protection so if you rip and burn audio on a routine basis then I recommend the Plextor Premium (52\32\52x) or the Plextor PX-712A/SA dvd burner. My burner will rip most audio cd protections at present, including DocLock and can read and write Mt. Rainer.

yup, EAC is the bomb. using it with the LAME plugin is the way to go. I use a Pioneer drive (DVD-106) and have never had any problems ripping either.

yes you're right, my mistake when I said outlawed, thats not what I meant. But after slysoft took over and they updated clone cd, they were not permitted (by a new law I think) to allow it to make true 1:1 copies anymore.

It's ok, i found way using "Free CD Ripper 3.1". These CD's i have arent new, but the creators found this way of putting software onto the Music CD (like there own bands flash thing) which meant everytime i shoved the CD into my computer, all it would have in My Computer under the CD drive letter, was some install.exe thing and a whole pile of other files- every file that is, except the music files, which is what I needed access too.

This new program gets around this thank god.

Download A-Ray Scanner and scan the audio cd and post on this thread what audio cd protection is on it. Ripping protected audio cd's (Key2Audio, Cactus Data Shield, DocLock) is more hardware dependent than software dependent. One of the best, if not the best programs to rip audio to your hd is a free program called EAC(Exact Audio Copy). :)
