I have this problem with divx files i splitted: (Direct Split - No Re-encoding invovled)

The splitted files have a higher brightness than the original files. Pure Black looks like Dark Grey. Why is this so when there is no re-encoding of the file taking place?
I've used the following programs and they all give me the SAME result:

1) VirtualDub 1.6.7
2) Movie Splitter
3) Easy Video Splitter

All the files which i tried to split were created using the DivX 5.2 PRO codec. Could this have anything to do with it?

Hoping you guys can help..thanks

Not possible for the brightness to change if you are direct streaming. Must be a playback issue. Like if you open two videos at once, one may use a hardware overlay and the other doesn't.

Try using AVISynth to crop each in half (left/right, top/bottom) and then use stackvertical or stackhorizontal. I doubt you will be able to tell that the picture is made up of two different halves.

First of all, thanks for the advice. I was using Zoom Player all these days. When i tried to open the split file in Windows Media Player...there was no such problem. Everything was okay....

But just to make a point - I never opened two files simultaneously. It seems Zoom Player (however great a player it is!) seems to have a problem with SPLIT DIVX files. Kinda strange considering the problem exists even in their latest update which i downloaded today morning also...

Thanks a lot for the tip buddy.
