i've got a AVI. which play perfectly on my PC, but when i try to encode it using DVD santa, santa just closes down no warnings at all. i've tried using other video tools like TMPGEnc but it says it has no audio :S. i've tried santa with other AVI's which works... it makes no sense at all. any help would be appricated

sounds like you may have and incomplete or corrupted file, i suggest you run it through GSpot first and see what you are dealing with.
