Ok here is what happened to me:

Since I heard that TDK is a good media, I decited to buy some TDK DVD-Rs. So I went home happy:) cause I knew I had buy some good media.

So when I got home I had a SAN ANDREAS ISO ready to burn to a DVD-R.
So I burned my ISO to a TDK DVD-R and I popped it in the ps2 and loaded it with Swap Magic 3.3 DVD version (It boots but All I get is a black screen).WTF! I had burned the same ISO with a MAXELL dvd-r and it had worked perfectly! Oh the TDK DVD-Rs I bought are made in Taiwan. Is TDK media relly good?

First Update your firmware.,Then
Burn at the slowest "supported speed" using dvd decrypter.

Start dvd decrypter right click your rw drive.
First check for firmware updates.
After that is complete.
Put a quality blank media into your drive.
Goto mode iso write (using dvd decrypter).
IN THE BOX ON THE RIGHT YOU WILL SEE "SUPPORTED WRITE SPEEDS".
These are the speeds that you can Correctly burn (USING THE MEDIA THAT IS INSERTED.)
It will vary from one media maufacturer to another.
(Go with the SLOWEST SUPPORTED SPEED)

Your media should be fine depending on who manufactured it.
You can run a free program called 'Dvd identifier' to find the
'Media ID' on your TDK.

Sony is second class media.
I would recommend trying -r if the above doesnt work.

The following list is in preference order.

MXLRG01, MXLRG02 = Maxell = (-R) ... be aware of unbranded fakes
MCC = Mitsubishi Chemicals = (-R)<-----------------VERBATIM MY CHOICE #1
TDKG02 = TDK Corp = (-R) ... be aware of unbranded fakes
TAIYOYUDEN or YUDEN = Taiyo Yuden = (-R)<--------------FUJIFILM (made in japan) MY CHOICE #2
