I ordered the slim tool for my slimline PStwo. All the parts fit except for part A (near the power button) If I push it in it fits but just pops back out.

Any advice?

Thanks!

when you fitted in your tool b did u have to use tape or something. because i ordered mynes and i have been told that tools A and B are rubbish in the slimtool set because they are not sticky. so when you put in tool A and B and C did you use tape or anything else or did you just use the tools that came.

Yeah basically what I did was used tape for where tool a goes, had to tape down tool c as it doesnt stay down it pops up and tool b fits and stays there but the slightest tap will send it flying. Its a really cheap tool and not worth the $3 or whatever I paid, easier to just use tape and stuff.

Its is supposed to be completely flat. Yours is like mine then, mine sticks up a bit so what I did was put a piece of tape across it to hold it flat.

Hey everyone. I have a slim ps2 and I have the same stuff. Like part A dosn't want to stay down. And part B hell I have no Idea which way it goes in I tried to follow along in the directions but the directions they sent me are printed photos and it's hard to tell like which way it's facing and everything. I installed part B wrong I know it becuase it dosn't just fit perfectly like it should. i think mines actually placed upside down in it. Now if the job for part B is to hold that springy thing with the tan rubber on the front then my peice is working right but it's in wrong and it makes alot of noise when spinning the Dvd booter disc. becuase the edge of all the disc will rumb up against it. And hooo. How how do you get the DVD booter disc to work. my ps2 says it's not a ps2 formatted dis. I tried it with the tools in and out. Also I did the same for the cd-r booter to. Nothing still comes up. How do I do it. the dvd and cd have like small rings going around the bottom of it that the laser see's not sure if they are suppose to be they're but the company put them there I think. So I need help also. Any ways you guys that are having trouble with part C.It's real easy it goes up and down it goes down into the ps2slime like the small ledge that hangins out on it goes down into it the big falt ledge goes on top keeping it from falling down in there. and it should work as long as you don't have the flip top open all the way. more at a really steep angle pointed towards you. So if that helps good. Now can anyone help me?

well this is how i fitted it in... once of my mates pushed the diskbrake to the right and i had a torch (LOL) so i have a clear view. then i got the pointy like part and slowly inserted it into the space and then when my mate let go of the diskbrake it stayed in place and i dont think it disrupts da disk or neting. i dont no if its rite but its workin so it shud be...

It's basocally a cheap tool, and all the parts need to be taped down. I don't even use tool A since it wouldnt stay down, i just shoved duct tape in it, I have C tapped down also, and for B it just barely in there, it will fall out with the slightest movement, but it does the job.

You guys should all get the slim kit pro so you wont need tape and shit its pretty easy to install. A will work if you add a little tape, B is easy to add, just move the switch and insert it..Tool C was hard if that doesnt work I suggest openiing your PS2 and taping the sensor.

ACK! The slim pro mod is aggravating! I thought I was the only one! Well, My tools A and B are the *easiest* to install. My tool A came with a sticky backside, so it stays put (it actually comes loose once every week or so). My tool B doesn't look like it's right, but it holds the sensor thing off to the side, and it doesn't pop out often...
Tool C.... Oh my, tool C... I've read the instructions, and watched a video about it online...I can't get it to make the lazer drop or whatever it's supposed to do *sob*
I've given up and bought the slim switch pro (my current tool C is that huge flat rectangular thing), but I haven't tested it out yet.

Tool C is the hardest took me a week and I couldnt do it. It should go between the hinges in the top left but it didnt work for me. I opened my PS2 and taped the grey sensor and it worked.

Yeah, it sounds a lot easier to do it when you can actually see the sensor, but I have a little problem with my warranty being intact. I bought my ps two about three months ago...I know there are ways to open it without disturbing the seals and such, but I'd feel better safe than sorry...

Is it a little button that the tool C pushes down, or is it a lazer sensor or something that it just covers up? Knowing nothing at all about it is the majority of the reason why people keep missing it. Especially where it's located. I know what hole I'm supposed to push it into, but I don't know where it's supposed to go afterwards.

Well I broke my seal, if you dont wanna do it dont, but I spent 2 damn weeks on C and it didnt work so yeah plus my slim is 5 months or something. Its supposed to go deep enough for the sensor to be blocked...but even though mine was pushed in it didnt work..

Bahaha! yeah, I suppose the frustration will eventually lead me to drastic measures. It's weird though, the seal is so easily overlooked, I wonder if someone from, say, Wal Mart would actually notice if it's broken...

Well guys I think I know why mine didn't work. and it's becuase i bought the PAL version and I live in the U.S. So yeah I have to buy another kit. Any one got an websites I can buy it for. And it's less than $50. Alright let me tell you this though. I am keeping my swap magic 3.6 plus becuase tool c does the ob perfect and tool A works great So..........I'm keeping it for parts A and C. But part B sucks and it flys out every time I bump the discbreak. So I'm going to find some website with the NTSC version not the PAL version. Anyone got any suggestions.Thankx peace

Honestly, I think Tool B would be the easiest piece to jimmy-rig yourself. You know exactly what the part is supposed to be doing, unlike C, and you have easy enough access to set it up. All you'd need is a little wedge that's big enough to hold the disc break off to the side, but in far enough so it doesn't touch the disc while playing...I think a rolled up piece of tape would do fine. You could even roll it inside out for extra adhesion, just to make sure it doesn't fall inside.

Hellrooo...Honestly, I'm not too sure why the laser moves around so much when loading Swap Magic, but I'm sure it's to do with the fact that if you look at the underside of the disc, there's little rings of data all over the place with gaps here and there. I couldn't say what it could possibly be for...
As for Swap Magic damaging your PS2, I have been assured on these forums countless times that it doesn't, although SM does tend to give the laser's motor quite a workout. Also, they say, it has to work harder to read burned CD's (as opposed to DVD's), but I wouldn't say that it would damage it. All in all, it's a far less risky operation than taking the whole thing apart and soldering tiny pins to the mainboard.

i have a slimline, i got sick of the tape unsticking so i soldered the lid sensor. as for the other sensor near the power/reset button, i drilled a hole near it and connected it to a switch. so its so easy now to do detected/undetected swaps
