I just got a Archos Gmini 400. So far very nifty for music and photos but not for video. The maker says it plays "MPEG-4 SP with MP3 or ADPCM stereo sound, up to 640x400 @ 30 f/s, AVI file format. Reads XviD and DivX®** 4.0 & 5.0. Play Music Video in MPEG-4"

So far I've tried a french Divx downloaded online via emule and an MPEG 4 file from archive.org. Neither with play on the Archos and I can't seem to find a coverter that will help (tried Archos front end to video dub, pocket divx and divx converter)

Any clue would be helpful. Thanks

Well the stuff from archive.org would be SP, however it would have AAC audio and be in an mp4 container. The stuff that you download is probably ASP. Stick with what is allowed and you should be fine.
