Please Help With Swap Magic 3.6

I just got swap magic 3.6. I put in the dvd version use the slide card etc. The game im trying to boot is a copy of NBA Live 2003 my ps2 is v.7. When I put in the game it takes me to the regular ps2 boot screen where it shows the memory card and then it says please insert a Playstation or Playstation 2 format disc. Please help am I doing something wrong?

are you using the slide card to close the dvd tray also?
