DRE after 10-60min : here's a solution

Hi everyone,
It's been a couple of weeks since I first read threads around here, about GC modding and DRE. And I haven't stopped having problems since that, 'til now.
So here's my (short) story, just for background :
- Last week, I bought a Qoob Pro, then set up myself. Everything was ok, the first GCM I burnt booted, I was happy.
But after a couple of minutes, the game stalled. Then shown "An error has occured".
Since I was aware of all DRE problems guys having with GC, I decided to modify my POT value.
- Everyone seems to agree with the fact that a value between 190 and 220 is perfect. But I read somewhere else (http://modthatcube.ngcdev.com/) :

Ouch, what should I have done ? Mine was at 490, and *every* game booted perfectly, but everyone of them was having DRE after 10-60 minutes. So I decided setting the POT at 190.
- It worked. With all the games I had in hand at the moment. But 2 days later, the DRE were back, with others games.
So I played them, opening/closing the lid everytime the screen was black. Until I get borred.
- I tried to open the GC box, putting a 12mm fan near it to decrease temp, but no way. So I decided to change my POT value again. This time, increasing the value.
I set it to 520 (490+30, 30 because I wanted to see a real difference).
And then, magic : every single DRE was gone. After 3h of play, the games that used to freeze were working perfectly.
But there's a drawback : I used 2 brands of mini-DVD. The first one (the most expensive, Mirror Platinum 4x, identified as INFOSMART01), wasn't booting anymore !! But the all games burnt on Budget mini-DVD 4x were ok.
So keep in mind that if you're only having DRE after a few minutes, you should indeed INCREASE your POT. At least, that's what worked for me.

For info, here my configuration :
+ GC, Qoob Pro (1.3a), POT@520
+ Burner NEC ND2500A
+ BUDGET miniDVD 1-4x, burnt at 4x with Nero --> booting, no DRE
+ Mirror Platinum 1-4x, burnt at 4x with Nero, burnt at 1x with CloneCD --> most of them not booting (haven't tried DRE)

hey dude two questions:
1. is there anyway to do this without turning that screw?
2. If not, which way did you turn the screw to increase the ohms to 520? ccw or cw?
okay okay so that was actually 3 questions, anyway a prompt response and a diagram would prove mucho helpful dude

Why u care about whick direction to turn it? U can easily check the resistance from multimeter, and turn the pot where to need...
And by the way, it's cw to increase...

Well, as far as i know, no ^^

If I remember well, that was CW (just do a quick search in this forum, you'll get every diagram/pics you need).
And as Quezacotl said, use a multimeter to check the value.

how do you guys actually check the resistance on the pot? I have a multimeter but i have no idea how to read it... haha..

Have a look here :
You have to move the central switch to point to the bottom left part (where the symbol Omega is), on the 2000 value. This way, you will be able to measure a value between 0-2000 ohms (gamecube POT's between 150-600).
Please note that yours may look different, but look for the Omega symbol.

There is no plus and minus poles in pot. =)
