Why all the deception in Kazaa?

Why are there so many files being shared in Kazaa that have deceptive filenames and/or decriptions? You run a search for one thing, and then find out after downloading a file it turns out to be something totally different.
Is it a massive case of "spoofing" going on by the copyright holders? I can't believe they would be the ones behind it, especially since a good percentage of these deceptive files turn out to be of the same artist, developer, etc. They wouldn't use their own material for "spoofing" would they?

Yeah, I figured. I was just curious about what the motivation is for the people who create the files. Oftentimes the file that you end up with is something that's pretty darned good, despite the fact that you were tricked. Are these people trying to be malicious or do they think they are doing me a favor, by giving me something that THEY think is better than what I originally wanted? Really strange.
I have discovered after getting duped a few times that if a file's title and description conflict with its filename, the filename is what to look at. If a file's title and description says it's 'Half-life', but the filename says it's 'FIFA Soccer', it's probably going to turn out to be FIFA Soccer. It's not a foolproof method but it holds up most of the time.

In the past I always judged a p2p by its popularity, since the more one is used, then the more files that are available. Therefore, you have better odds of getting what you're looking for.
I've had good experience with WinMX and a ton of people use it but Kazaa has made me re-evaluate this way of thinking.
Always open to suggestions, I'll be trying eDonkey and Direct Connect as well as some others that I've heard mentioned.

Yeah resuming a file on direct connect is a pain.
You have to find the exactly named file and download it into the same directory right ?!?

These people post fake files, because it can contribute to increasing their bandwidth and priority when using Kazza. Also, increasingly the copyrighters have been (allegedly) posting as many fake files as possible, in order to discourage people from bothering to download. The intention, presumably, is to make it so 'un'worthwhile, that people will give up and but the CD/DVD/Game, etc.
