I want to learn how to use a cd- writer to burn dvds . I heard it is possible. I heard you would have to rip down some stuff [could someone explain ]and i want to burn it to a cd.

You Heard wrong...There is absolutly no way to Burn a DVD with a CD-Burner...

I think what you heard was that you Can convert DVD"s to a format Like VCD or SVCD which can Be burned to CD-R and watched in a DVD Player that supports VCD/SVCD....

I used to make a Lot of VCD"s and SVCD"s and Had nothing But Trouble with them...There are Lots of Playback Problems and the Quality can be Quite Low and you have to Put most movies on Two or more CD-R"s...

You are Simply much better off Spending the $40 US and Buying a DVD Burner as it is Cheaper to burn a Movie to a DVD than it is Burning it to Two CD-R"s and with Quality 400% better than VCD and with the Cheap Price of DVD Burners these Days there is No excuse to not have one...You can even Get a Used or an older Model DVD burner on E-Bay for as Low as $20, I recently Bought a 3 Pioneer A05 4X Dual Format DVD burners for $22 each on E-Bay which work just Fine so I"m usre if you Put in the Smallest ammount of Effort you can find one for pretty cheap especially if you are in the US....
