Do i need a mod chip to play play dvd-r on my ps2 i use alcohol 120%. I can not get it to work on the ps2

You need either Swap Magic or a mod chip to be able to play your backups.

You should just stick with DVD Decrypter. It's much better.

Put in the disc MODE>ISO>READ Save the ISO
then MODE>ISO>WRITE - put in your dvd-r and click browse, choose the MDS file then set a slow speed to burn at then click the image.

like stated above, you can not play any back up games without modding your system.
Movies should work just fine without any modding at all.
Swap Magic and a slidecard or slimtool (depending on your model) are the cheapest way to go.
Swap magic and a flip top i think are easier myself but will cost a few extra $$$

and a good mod chip (DMS4 or Matrix Infinity) is the best way to go but also the most expensive of the 3. You want the best you have to be willing to pay for it.
