...as loads of posts/PM's seem to have gone missing. Wonder if this is something to do with the site being on go-slow for part of this morning. You guys done a restore or something ??

all i can say is phew, thankfully i only do my indepth replying out of work hours, ie my blitzes thru Nero Logs, wouldn't fancy redoing all those!. i'd definitely be in trouble at work for redoing all those

just signed on this morning...and BAM...1/2 my lengthy messages from yesterday (yes creaky, i did MOST my work yesterday) are GONE~ *poof*
even after congratulating creaky and squizzle on becoming addicts, i myself find about 20+ posts missing and im missing a few PMs from yesterday that i was about to respond to after some thought today :(
i dunno what's going on but, since the few posts in the dvd-media section i made yesterday are missing, people are still responding to threads that i THOUGHT i had answered and the original poster came to a resolution~ :(
oh well, looks like it's gonna be even LONGER now as my internet connection has just come to a standstill being here on AD :)

@kivory666 - it's probably not your connection, AD is playing up again. I've just had a flood of replies and response times are still crap. I fear we'll probably lose all these replies too.

not much we can do about it i guess, it's just a shame that at least for YOU and I, i know we sometimes get really "involved" with helping someone and answering their inquiries...i myself find that i spend a good 10 min. sometimes searching elsewhere and around the net to help someone, it's just sad that both yours and my researching and lengthy (at least for me anyway) are just gone~ that's like an hour or 2 worth of work from yesterday (if you add them all up together) down the drain :P
whether AD did a restore/backup from lets say 24 hours ago, i noticed all my posts from last nite are missing, i don't think we are gonna get them back, and i for one, not to sound irritated, will NOT reply to all those posts i did last night as that is a complete waste of my time~ it's too bad for some of the people i helped as if they did not read it last nite, they won't hear from me again today :)
yes, i KNOW that some of my posts are really stupid and useless, but the ones that i really take the time to thoroughly examine, well, that was yesterday and i am not about to repeat myself again~ life goes on..but, you won't see any help coming from me today...guess im just having a bad hair day :)
hope you and the others have a better day today than me, im DONE for today and it's only 7:30am over here where i am~ :) just too irritated right now.

We had a small security issue with one of our seven servers that has been solved. The hacking attempt itself didn't do any harm, thus any user security hasn't been breached, but the hacking attempt managed to crash one of our application servers on Sunday. This escalated to the point that we had to take few of our servers down today and take 2 hour old db backup and load it to our secondary db machine -- thus, posts made during that 2 hour period were lost.
Now everything should be running as normal, even tho some slowdown might be expetrienced as we're running with less servers now until they've been re-installed.
