im trying to backup the star wars trilogy bonus disc, but im finding it more trouble then its worth. when i open the disc up in dvd shrink, the total size of the disc(after shrink has compressed certain parts) is 4736mb, ie too much too fit on a normal dvd-r. i then dont have the option to compress the videos anymore, i can only take bits off, but of the bits i dont wont, only makes the project size a total of 4597mb, now shrink thinks this is too big for a dvd-r, but cant they fit 4700mb? if this is then case then why does shrink not like u doing discs more then 4500mb
thanks.

Yubious ,
Welcome to the forum. Go to Edit> preferences> target size> change it to custom and the blue box to the right change the number to 4300. That should do it

A 4 hour movie... wow
Are you sure there isn't a widescreen, and full screen, version of the same movie?
If so... then you can replace the one you dont want to keep, with a still image, by hitting the drop down box where its says automatic, and choosing still image.

Well DVD Shrink will only compress so much. You could try shrinking it twice, but im guessing the quality will be poor.
The only other suggestion is to split it on 2 discs, or use a better encoder ie.dvdrb/cce
I'm not much of a starwars fan, so I'm not familar with that dvd.

You could also go with dual layer,if your burner supports it.
