When I'm not encoding video on my laptop, I'm doing it on my PC. However, sometimes, the result of doing it on my PC is a good quality rip, but purple/pink spots in certain areas of the video. Almost as if monitor is demagnitized in those spots.

Yet, when I copied the avi to my laptop, it was indeed part of the video. And it only happens at certain times.

For example: In Ocean's Twelve, Bernie Mac is conversing with the others while standing up. During this time is shoes and left pantleg appear with a smeared purple/pink like color. But when Bernie walks away, the color disappears.

BTW, I'm using Gordian Knot (the latest version) on my both machines with the same settings. The only difference is the my laptop is a 2 GHZ and the PC is a 1.4 GHZ.

Dunno buddy, shouldn't be doing that ;^(
Which codec are you using, DivX or XviD?
The answer might lie within the Encoder Configuration options.
It also helps to have lots of memory, and (ideally) two harddisks.
But definitely unique to your backups - hope you figure out why.
This is the forum to discuss Encoder Configuration options, so review your settings and then, any questions we can answer.

Check your AVISynth script and see if it has the same problems.

Also what build of XviD and what settings?

I'm using Xvid version 1.1, and the configuration settings for the encoder on both computers are the same. Both computers have 512 MB of DDR memory.

1.1 isn't out yet, not 1.1final anyway. Did you check the AVISynth script?

I'm not sure what you mean by check your AVISynth script. I know I can see it when I hit edit on the encode screen. But what am I looking for when I see it?

After examining a rip of Indiana Jones, I've now narrowed down the problem. On any given image, if you look at a certain edge, the brim Indiana's hat for example, you'll see a red flare. And slowly that flare will "bleed", getting larger. However, this will only last for 6 seconds when all of sudden the picture seems to adjust itself and revert back to its true color. This then loops throughout the entire movie.

Its not just one thing either, it could be a flag, someone's face, a truck, and even the opening credits: they all could "bleed" at the same time. Only to revert back after 6 seconds. Weird...I know.

I meant play the script to see if the problem is there before encoding.
