Hi all,

I have GTA 4, which I'd like to keep a backup of, and I use a Mac. I have tried to burn it, but have been unsuccessful. I have tried two different type media, and both have the same reaction - it loads the game, and loads my last starting point, but when I attempt to move out of the house and start playing, it goes to a black screen and freezes at this point. Occassionaly, the picture will come on, just to go out a second later saying there was an error reading the disc. I popped my original back in, and it works fine.

I'm using Toast, and burning at 2x speed, using the Copy DVD function.

Can anyone give me some suggestions of what else I can try?

Thanks,
-S

What are you using to load the game? I have this very issue (the exact same thing!) when I use a game not big enough in TOC for swapping. I use DMC 1 for TOC refresh and never get any problems in game. If you're using SwapMagic or another swap method make sure the TOC refresh game you're using is bigger than GTA:SA to make sure the game will be accesible to the PS2 in its entirety.

PS2 V9 with Custom Flip Top
MC Exploit
ULaunchELF 3.78
HDLoader 0.8a with 160Gb Maxtor HDD

Nintendo GameCube DOL-001
XenoGC 2.0
POTS adjusted to 400Ohms from 496Ohms and runs everything thrown at it

If you strike me down, I shall become more powerful than you can possibly imagine.

I'm using Swap Magic 3.6 and a flip top cover. I'm very new to this, and not familiar with all the terms you are describing (TOC, DMC 1). I'll do some searching, but if you can eloborate some more for me, since I am using swap magic, how do I achieve what you are talking about?

TOC refreshing happens every time you swap a game. You need to TOC refresh with a game equal in size or bigger than the backup you're about to boot. The problem you have is that the TOC of Swap Magic is probably not big enough to let you play GTA:SA in its entirety. So you need a bigger original game bigger than GTA4 to let you boot up. I use Devil May Cry (DMC) 1 for TOC refreshing and have never had a problem running the game.
