Hi

I'm presently using nero express 3 to convert avi's and author them to dvd but it only has the option to create them as pal or ntsc - not region free.

I'm after a app that is as easy to use as nero express, that can author from avi (div & xvid), create menu's and chapters but also create a region free dvd.

Are there any out there - if so please advise.

Thank you

GGG...the dvd's are region free. PAL and NTSC are not regions, they are mpeg-2 formats. Encode your video to whichever part of the world you are in. If you're in NTSC land, and you need to send a video to Europe, make a PAL one.

GGG? You mean Nero Vision Express creates region free dvd's?

Ok, if so does it create them as simply region free or region 0 and if so is there an option for me to choose between the two?

If not, same question again - which other prog, which is simular to nve in easy of use with the ability to create simply menus can also let me choose the the region?

Ideally, you don't want dvd's to have a region.
Although there are quite a few authoring programs, not many have the all-in-one ability of NVE.
I don't know if you can choose in NVE.
If you have properly encoded mpg's, then Ulead, Sony, Cyberlink, and quite a few others have simple authoring apps.
Tmpgenc DVD author, and DVDLab (Pro) are more advanced.
If you want something that will encode AND author, there are quite a few that will give you an autoplay dvd, but if you want menus and chapters, stick with NVE, unless you're willing to learn using standalone encoders and such.

It would help if we knew exactly why you want to create a dvd for a region, or what your current problem is with NVE.

er? I do not want to create a dvd with a region - thats the point of my question - does NVE create the dvd's with a region or is it region free.

One big problem I find with all encoders is that if so for example I can encoding a series, most of the time the encoders will struggle to encoder a certain episode (same format as others). Then I hit a brick wall as the encoder gives me no explination or any clues how it can be fix.

E.G - encoding with nve, episode 1-5 transcodes fine in like 45mins, with 1 episode to go and 15mins left to completion then it gets stuck on episode 6 and just does nothing for hours until I quit it.

Any ideas how I can resolve this?

Don't use NVE, or any of the other all-in-one type of tools.
Get a good encoder, that gives you some control over the process, so you don't waste hours on a dud file.
