My computer came with Nero OEM version... and I still have problems burning cds AND DVD's... the common errors are: "reset Occured" and "illegal disk" regardless of what brand of media i use. The reset occurred is by far the most common error message i get. I have tried basically everything but still get errors!!!

My question is this:

The only thing i haven't tried is buying the EXPENSIVE nero boxed program. It makes sense that probably the boxed version may be a bit better or stable or something.. Have any ofyou used both versions and had better luck with the boxed version? I don't know what else to try.

here it is:

What are your thoughts??

You can try it out for free, if you download it from the Nero website, and see for yourself.

It's a great app with loads of features, so I think it's well worth buying the full version.

I used the OEM version for the majority of my burns with no problems. The suite I had did not include Recode 2, so I got the retail version... In short, to answer your question: OEM or Retail shouldn't matter. Retail just has more applications and features, but OEM should be just as functional, stability-wise, with the applications and features it includes... By the way, which OEM suite do you have (there are 3 different versions)?

Nero OEM should work just fine for general burning aplications. BTW Nero OEM suite 3 does come with recode2 amd can be found a lot cheaper than Nero ultra. I got mine for $8 w/ free shipping. If you decide to purchase Nero ultra be sure to fully remove the OEM version and sereal #.

What brand and model dvdrw do you have? Internal or external? If internal are the jumpers set correctly? 40 wire or 80 wire IDE cable? Is the firmware current? Even though it's new doesn't mean it has the most current f/w.

I think that there is another problem going on here. Unless the Nero version you are using is really, really old! Even then, what media are you using?
